I was wondering how long it takes to ship to Canada? I traded four knives to a guy in Canada on 6/16 and have not received my knife yet. I have emailed him a couple of times and have gotten responses saying it probably got caught in customs. This might be true but there has been a recent post about this trader by another forum member that has waited 3 months and still no knife. Also, ever since I questioned him he hasnt loogged back on.

Did he put tracking on the package? That should tell you if it's caught in customs. If he didn't why not? Not sounding good for you. I've got to tell you, after hanging out here a bit I'm not sure why anyone would ever trade knives. It doesn't look like it's a question of if you will get burned but rather when you will get burned.

no he doesnt have tracking number. ai hear ya. I will only trade with people I have traded with in the past from now on. He did have a positive feedback score from a guy I have traded with though.

Canada Customs can be hard to predict on. They can get backed up and until they get to your package, they can't tell you anything. If they check it out and have a problem, you'll hear from them.

How long has it been since he hasn't been on line here?
You can email me info on him if you don't want to go public just now.

Last time I shipped something to the SND, it took a couple weeks. I just shipped something back to Peter R but I'm not sure he's received his scale yet. I think it usually takes a couple weeks to get thru US and then Canadian customs.

I am about to find out myself since I am currently involved in a knife trade with a member here in Canada (benyaM95 Ranger Knif) who will ship his knife to me as soon as mine arrives. The USPS website says 6 to 10 days for a delivery estimate to Canada. It has now been 5 days since I shipped my end of the deal.

I can tell you this that after having to fill out the Customs paperwork and finding out how expensive Priority Mail shipping was I can certainly understand why many here are hesitant of doing any trades outside of the USA. I decided to go with First Class International Parcel mail and then was told that I could neither get insurance for it nor Delivery Confirmation. I could only get that using Priority Mail which was over three times the cost. What a crock that was. I am now at the mercy of the Canada Post and Canada Customs agencies.

I will post back and edit this post with the delivery time as soon as I hear from "benyaM95 Ranger Knif" that my knife has arrived safely.

Edit 7/7/10: Heard back from benyaM95 that my knife arrived safely and it took 7 days total including going through Canada Customs from South Florida to Ontario. Pretty good in my opinion using First Class Int'l Parcel mail, the cheapest option.

Well..... shipping time... you just never know. Lately First Class arrives faster than Priority.
On the average - 2 weeks. One good thing about Canada Post - there is always option of insurance, no matter which service is used.

Last knife I sent to Canada via Global Priority, insured took over a month,it was delivered 2 days after I filed for the insurance claim.
I might ship to Canada if selling on the boards with an understanding up front but never again through Ebay.

I have had trades and sales aplenty on this board and good advice when crossing borders is to forget about instant gratification- this is product to be moved across different legal channels. I have had packages take less than a week, and others about a month. No biggie as I always get the knife. I shake my head, however, when I hear people complain that it has been 4 days and no knife. It's called patience people, and I would think that the world would get along better if people remembered what it was.

BTW, the only issue I have had was when 3/4 knives arrived in a sealed box. The seller fixed it for me and I never heard how it worked out for him insurance wise. I feel that impatience is a major reason for people not wanting to deal with us Canadians, and it makes me sad......:(

As recent as a few weeks ago,I ordered two knives, one from the west coast and the other from the east coast both of which came usually fast, in 7 days.Usually they take about 10 business days and it may,I think take longer if they are not located near a major city.

I recently bought a knife from a guy in Canada. It took my first class mailed, International PMO 16 days to get from Texas to there. Why I don't know. Took the knife he mailed to me, express or whatever they call it up there, 10 days to get here. Nothing personal at all, but I'm going to avoid dealing with cross border deals, including Canada if at all possible in the future.
