I was wondering what the general ideas are about how long to wait before leaving negative feedback for a seller?

The reason I ask is that I bought something, paid PayPal F&F (yes some discourage it but it’s the way it is now for the most part), and the item was “mailed” last Wednesday (2-23). The seller stated he had it picked up. The USPS tracking still shows “label created” only. There have been no further scans of the item. Me and the seller live 3 states away so it’s not that far to travel, so it’s been to other post offices etc and hasn’t been scanned by anyone, making me think it was never mailed. Maybe I am jumping the gun but it seems in that many business days someone would have scanned it somewhere.

The seller has a couple dozen feedback, all positive but only a handful as the seller.

So I thought I would ask when you leave negative feedback? How long a wait? I hate to do it but if in fact this is a scam then I want to warn other BF members from buying from the seller.

This is a good start, you can always tag the member here first to get clarification on what’s happening with the package. Have you been trying to contact them and they aren’t responding to you now?

They are replying, still saying it’s shipped. Of course, even if it wasn’t they would say that or simply not reply

Document all correspondence and be polite. Down the road, it may be helpful. If the seller ultimately flakes, at least let us know the username and PayPal address so we can avoid them. With FF being the norm it’s up to us to police and sanction now.

Yes I planned on giving the persons signon etc if this goes further south. Hopefully it won’t but we shall see

not saying he has mailed it, but lately I've seen 2 packages come from great neck NY to me with zero scanning. only listed as label created and then just show up at my local branch for delivery many days later. weirdly other packages in same time frame from other places have shown locations and tracking.

Yes I thought about that. I guess the fact there is 0 updates is what gets me. Usually there is 1 somewhere.

true, normally its always that way when shipped...but I did see two from north east with none, until out of delivery just in the last 2 weeks.

course that may not apply to yours...

I’m hoping that’s just the case.

A similar thing happened to me as a seller last Aug. USPS had picked two boxes up, but only scanned one. The second one - insured for $1k - didn’t track. We have proof that two boxes were picked up.

In any case, I refunded the buyer after two weeks of the package not showing and it’s still missing, Insurance claim is still on-going ....

Pretty obvious that a USPS employee stole the package. I also had a knife box arrive on our porch once visibly cut open ...

Just saying. Might not be the sellers fault, but he should refund you after two weeks, if you don’t want to wait any longer. Two weeks is long enough for the package to show up in the tracking system, even if it is routed some scenic way.

In the last year, I have had several items (not from BF), that went from "label created" to "delivered" with no updates in between - and they were all slower than the anticipated date of delivery

Yea it might not be his fault, hence this thread. I don’t want to call the guy out by name just yet. Just don’t know how long to wait until I worn others if he has indeed went rogue

Yep, this happens to me pretty regularly. I often get zero tracking updates until a package hits Washington's arrival hub.

Not sure what shipping method was used here, but I've also found that these days it's not unusual for things to take an extra day or two to reach me.

That is why it is very important to hand any package directly to a clerk and get it scanned in - don't just drop it off or have it picked up without the initial scan. Also, like others have said, packages may not ever get scanned until "out for delivery" so give it some time. 1 week is still too short and USPS won't even take any insurance claim until at least 3 weeks have passed.

Bought something on the big auction site on Wednesday. The "label printed" part of the tracking happened almost right away, but then the package was in my mailbox on Friday afternoon with no additional updates on the tracking information. I'm not sure how that happens, but it does.

Yea I really want to put all this down to the USPS, as they seem to have ridiculous practices to say the least. Hence my hesitation to put it on anyone yet

Yes simply handing off isn’t good. I never would give to a carrier tbh. That’s the easiest way for a theft. USPS claims most their losses comes from within

Well my opinion is that we are dealing with items of significant cost. This isn’t some inexpensive item. I don’t leave knives in drop boxes. I have had items left in drop boxes take 2 weeks to get delivered, and when I called the post office 1 week in, they told be to wait another week.

I would put pressure on the seller to track this down. It’s their responsibility to follow up, not yours. Sellers shouldn‘t shrug their shoulders if a package hasn’t entered transit. That is on them. If they would’ve taken it to the counter and asked to have it scanned in and got a receipt, this wouldn’t be happening.

I think he stated the postal carrier picked it up. Either way yea agree I always want a receipt

Over a certain dollar amount, I switch to UPS. I won’t take the chance. I can usually count on UPS to get something to its destination. USPS is a gamble. Things disappear.. things don’t get scanned… I’ve had them tell me addresses were “undeliverable”… just really sucky.

But yes in any case, seller needs to spring into action and get on it. But if it has been less than 2 weeks, USPS isn’t going to be much help.
