I replied to a post recently, and it made me think of what survival knives that I have. I remember the Rambo craze, and all of the different style survival knives that were on the market from a Lile to a china camo with bubble compass. I wasn't fortunate enought to get a Lile, but I did manage to pick up a Buck Buckmaster(swapped it for a CS Recon Scout), a Gerber BMF with sawback, an Explorer Wilderness, and an Imperial Schrade M-7. I still have all of them except the Buckmaster. What do you have or had?

I suspect that Chris Reeves is well represented.

Wish I would have kept my hollow handles, but needed the money over time and sold 'em. Had:
Lile Sly 2
Crain MCS
Reeve Proj 2
Reeve Shadow 1
Buckmaster, black
Buckmaster, grey
Randall 18
Bianchi Nighthawk
Gerber BMF
Aitor
And a couple swap meet specials as a kid!

Now I really like the Reeve survival knives, that one fires me up. I had a chance to get one similar to this one at a steal, and passed it up. I know, I know.....S-T-U-P-I-D!!!

I've got an officially licensed Rambo II survival knife.

Imperial M7S Survival Knife.........That's my survival knife!!!!!

The funny thing is even though it is classified as a "survival knife", and it came from that era, I would definately have a hard time lumping it in with the typical "Rambo knives" of that time.

The M7S is actually quite a nice user knife that I personally found very handy to have strapped to my web belt. I beat on it time & time again and it always took what I dished out. It also sharpened up pretty good for me even though I really wasn't the best sharpener (Arkansas bench stone-freehand) at that time.

I never really bought into the "Rambo" knife craze but I sure did love those movies!!!

I don't like thinking about how many I let get away over the years.

Got an original Sly II made by Jimmy himself. I purchased it from him at an Arkansas gun/knife show back in 83.

I can't say enough bad things about this knife, I hate it.

The worst thing about it is that all these years later, and years after Jimmy's death, they're STILL cranking them out for the same price of 665 bucks each. I guess if the overhead hasn't gone up enough to make them raise that price, I got REALLY screwed back in 83 huh?
Lousy investment blade, lousy user knife.

Bubba,

What are those two big knives in the middle? The bottom one looks like a rehandled ontario machete.

The two knives in the center are "Bubba Blades". The Ontario machete blade was welded to a S/S hollow handle and the other S/S handle has a carbon steel blade sized and shaped to fit a Randall #13 sheath.

This is an old favorite. It's a rare Spanish Special Forces knife from the 1950s. The almost 1/4" blade stock, plus the rasp like sawback and recurve, makes this a very strong and lively design. The blade really picks up alot of momentum when you swing it.

This knife made by Kabar in the 1920s, along with a similar model made by Case, were the forerunners of the hollow handled survival knives. The space in the handle was originally concieved as a match safe.

I have a Phrobris III (Buck made them) Field knife, does that count?
