How many are going to see Act of Valor this weekend?

Not this weekend, but I will see it soon. My 8 year old son is begging to go also. There are two Green Berets, SOCOM guys who help coach my son's baseball team with me. Maybe make it a night out with these guys and they can fill in the "blanks"

Excellent series. The Episode about Bastogne (and what happened on 9-11) motivated me to become a 68W/Combat Medic.

My 10 year old son really wants to see Act of Valor. I'm kinda undecided as to whether it would be age appropriate.

Those of you who have seen an advanced viewing, would you recommend that a child his age (10) see this movie? (I would be there, of course.)

Being a medic must be pretty intense.

My grandfather served in the Army air core during WW2 and his brother was in the battle of the bulge. Would never talk about it. Anytime anyone asked him he would look at you so hard that you would shrivel up like fruit left in the sun...1000 yard stare with total silence. I never asked him, just heard about how he acted when asked. My grandfathers son, my uncle was in the Phillipines during Vietnam and I joined the army in 90' lookin to kick Saddams ass but was sent to Germany instead.

Just got back from the movie. When the credits rolled, I looked around and not a soul had moved. It was dead silent in the theatre and everybody just sat back with in complete AWE. What an incredible story.

It looks like a good one. I don't go to the theater anymore because I need captions to hear the bulk of most films. I'll buy the disc.

SEMPER-FI TIL I DIE

Went last night with my wife, "and a group of guys from my military history class" I thought the movie was a credit to our men in uniform. Makes a young man want to join up and serve and have honor, integrity, and courage. Then I compare it to the message a movie like Jarhead sends... complete opposites. heck, I know its a sci fi flick but the USMC movie Attack on LA was an incredible movie, the directors who did this one did their research on what Marine Corps Ethos is.. another one of my favorites eventhough its fighting aliens.
Would highly recommend act of Valor. I"ll buy this one.. Our country needs more movies that has us as the "good guys" instead of making us look bad. where's John Wayne? :).... heck in A.O.V. you didn't need john wayne cause they used the real heroes.

Bringing this one back to the top.

Saw it last night w/ a friend that serves. I wanted to see it while it was still on the big screen.

I must say that was quite literally the most 'action' packed into an 'action' movie I can ever remember (and I'm a movie buff). Other than a few brief sitreps, mission briefs, a particularly interesting 'interview' (that even had some 'action') and few little buddy/buddy moments, this movie was all action--I'd say probably like 90% worth was running & gunning. I did find the videogamey perspective shots (through various sights, behind the gun etc) to be somewhat interesting. The actors aren't going to win the Oscars for their dialog scenes, but that isn't what we go to movies like this for. And while the movie was definitely Hollywood-zed, to their credit, they did include depictions of some sacrifices that are made (ie they don't come out of a bazillon round firefight with only a flesh wound).

If you're looking for the action movie equivalent of 'bacon-wrapped bacon burgers served hot on a bed of bacon with a side of bacon' this is your movie. If you don't like over the top action and marginal acting, this aint the flick for you. But I enjoyed the heck out of it and will probably buy the DVD.

eh, i think it seems too fake. even with supposed real seal or swat or what ever else they can throw at this movie, doesnt seem real from the commercials. I'm going to see "the hunger games" instead.

Watched this the other day. I thought it was a pretty good film. A fairly simple plot with well executed action scenes and enough pace to keep the viewer interested.

My friend wanted more 'acting' scenes but I think the Director played to his strengths on that one. The bar scene at the start showed the level of acting the cast was up to so it was best left to the actors and leave the rest to doing what they're good at. A point I really enjoyed was the 'banter' between two of the Seals, the insults and in jokes shared between them was pretty much spot on as to how myself and my military friends address each other.

I felt that had this been made before 9/11 and the subsequent decade of war that we've found ourselves in that this would've been a straight to DVD or TV movie. Nothing wrong with that. I do feel that this is the perfect climate to release this movie and shed a little light on what military personnel go through in a package that is palatable to the masses. I've recommended it to anyone serving or who has served and to anyone who wants to see a truer depiction of action than you see in the regular hollywood films. I'll be adding this to my small DVD collection for sure.

 Quoted for posterirty. :p

I saw it yesterday and I'm disappointed. Practically I haven't seen nothing more than I already saw in the cool trailer and compared to other very well made war movies like Black Hawk Down for instance, Act of Valor is nowhere near, not even close in the overall quality. Not worth the money in my opinion.

I liked the movie, but I took my pregnant wife along to see it. When the pregnant lady is burying her husband at the end.........not good........not good at all......
