How many blades do you actually carry?

So we have threads about trios and threads where people carry 5 or 6 blades to play with on an outing. What I want to know is how many blades do you carry for the sake of just doing the work when you're out? Say you're going on a hiking trip and are only going to carry the blades that you feel you need to get you through, how many is that?
For me it's 3.

It depends what I am doing. I do trail maintanence weekly, and for that I take four, my belt knife, SAK, machete and a saw. But, that is just what works for that purpose. For woods bumming/camping 5: SAK, belt knife, bow saw, axe and crooked knife. For just the sake of getting by though, any 2-blade combination of axe, SAK and beltknife.

Rough question for me... I'm at work and have 5 with me now:o Two are new, and new toys always get toted around for at least 2 weeks.

But on the trail and not including a hatchet, at least three blades.... and there is always room for one more.

Usually 3 or 5.
For hiking - SAK in PSK and belt knife.
For campig - SAK in PSK,Case Trapper in pocket,Puukko on belt,Leuku on belt or in backpack,19'' hatchet in backpack or in camp :)

3 for me. 1 "for real" knife of between 4-5" and 2 big knives to play with.

Sometimes the survival kit will have a 4th small folder in it.

Almost always a chopper/splitter be it a pocket sized or bigger hatchet or a longer knife, etc.; a SAK/saw and/or a multitool/saw; and a 3-7" fixed blade. The chopper/splitter might be a machete if I'm brush clearing or possibly a cheap kukri if it is small trees and thicker stuff. I usually take another 4-7" fixed blade for gutting and skinning game if I'm hunting, and a fillet knife if I get to fish.

LOL Mike.. tht was a special occasion.... It's not often I get to kike with fellow Knife nerds...

For a hiking or camping trip I would say 3; a large machete or camp style, a small to medium style fixed blade and a folder with a 3-4 inch blade.

On a daily basis I only carry one knife although I rotate which one I carry so my knives don't just lay around on display.

I'm currently carrying a new Kershaw Leek and i love it!

I guess it really depends on what I am doing.

Normal day my EDC is usually 2, a standby folder and one that I pick from a rotation to play with.
Outdoors to play with knives, about 5, can just take a few to play with.
Outdoors hiking or camping, 3 folder, fixed and then a chopper of some sort.

On a daily basis I have three different knives on my person. On my backpack that goes everywhere with me I have...let's see...six more! But all for different tasks. :D

You will usually find 4-5 blades on me and a large chopper or hatchet (and folding saw) in the pack.

At least 1-2 folders in the pockets
Fixed blade belt knife
Small neck knife (in a MercHarness)
SAK Spirit and/or SAK

Yeah, it's overkill, but it makes me feel warm inside:D Quite often I'll have a new blade or two in the pack to play with depending on exactly what kind of outing I'm on. If we're backpacking, I'll trim down to a decent folder, SAK small belt fixed blade and large knife/chopper in the pack (not quite an ultralight).

Hi all,
These 2
101_1740.jpg

My Combat Recon and then my Whitler, both are carried in the same sheath.

Then I carry in my right front pocket a SAK classic.

Then in the small pouch ( survival kit) that I carry next to my belt knives I carry a SAK
Farmer in that pouch.

Then a Final Option knife in my Wallet.

Every day.

On a normal day I only have 2. However, when I will be out and about more, I usually have 3 on my person.

On a work day, a LM Core multi-tool and a folder of choice. Hiking, a SAK and fixed blade of choice. Two blades tops.
