How many blades do you carry?

Hmmmm... Lets count.
Ladybug on keychain: 1
Sage 2 in pocket: that makes 2
2nd ladybug on work keyring: 3
Delica in EDC bag : 4
Small SAK in FAK in bag: 5
Leatherman Micro in bag: 6
Ultimate Pen Knife in bag: 7
Buck Gent (cigar cutting knife) in bag: 8

Eight blades available most days, A couple more if I carry my stockman instead of the Sage 2. I have been thinking about scaling back and carrying a fixed blade, as all of mine are three inches or less.

Lately 3-4, 3-blade stockman on all days recently and a fixed blade added during hunting. I find that that's more than enough, but like to carry more just for fun.

On me? Today, 3. That's the blade on a LM Squirt, a Boker KeyCom, and the single blade on my SAK Cadet. With me? Add 3 to that. The blade on a LM Juice, a SAK Classic SD, and a Case Slimline Trapper.

Yesterday the answer would have been higher by two, since I was carrying a Case Medium Stockman instead of the Vic Cadet.

Lately it's been 4. Vic Rambler on my keys, 2012 bladeforums traditional in my watch pocket, and then either a locking folder in my jacket or a fixed blade on my belt. It all depends on what I'm doing that day.

Two from collumn A. One from Collumn B.
Peanut Clip and Pen, with Charlow single Spear always,
plus one two blade Barlow with either Clip/Sheep/Spear and Pen. 5 Blades total

That Remington Barlow is pretty sweet. Never seen Remington Barlow, but then again, I know next to nothing about Remington knives.

I tend to carry 1-3 blades. If just carrying my 73 or sometimes my sodbuster, then 1 blade. If just a two blade jack, then 2. If my 73 and a smaller knife for the watch pocket, then 3. I try not to carry more than this or I start to feel a bit ridiculous. At work with my supply pouch on I add another two knives. At first the pouch only had an Opinel in it (aside from other tools/supplies, obviously) and found it was very convenient for quick access/use when left as a friction folder unlocked. The part of the pouch I carry it in can carry a second knife )which prevents the Opinel from sliding around and falling over on an angle that would be annoying to dig out so I thought that a fantastic reason to carry yet another knife at work. So 1-3 blades most of the time, jumping up to 3-5 blades when at work. I really don't need that many blades day to day but, well, you know.

Usually, three to five. A couple traditionals, usually two-bladed, but sometimes singles, and usually a single-blade modern.

3-5. Stockman, cattle knife or trapper paired w/ a large single blade in my back pocket.

Always 2, one for self-defense if needed (like my Infidel or my Emerson CQC8) and one for light duty, like a Benchmade 710, Gold Class Osbourne 940-121, or one of my micarta Sebenzas. Love the Insingo.

Sometimes 3-4, though, just like looking at them and handling them quite often.

Traditional forum=traditional knives, please.

Clint Smith said it about guns, 'cause they break or run out of bullets at the worst time; but knives break too:
"one is none, two is one, three is two....." So I usually carry two or three, one fixed blade and one/two folders.

Overkill for me, but one fixed blade (Gossman Kephart), one modern one hand opener, one larger slipjoint, usually either my Beaver Tail 73 or Case Tribal Spear, and a smaller slipjoint, usually my spear point Charlow or spear point boys knife with barehead bolsters. I use the Charlow or the Kephart the most, I could get by with just the Charlow/boys knife, but where's the fun in that?

melon tester (&a real fork:) ) for eating lunch, swiss champ in my backpack, and a folder, lately a "squirrel', as a utility knife. on the job I always have a mat knife, too.

To work, up to four (single Congress) but usually two (jacks, pen knives, half Congress) or three (stockman, whittler).

After work, well...seven or eight among three knives :D

For everyday use I only carry one pocketknife - either a Stockman or a Jack of some sort (so three or two blades is what I carry). If I am hunting, in addition to a pocketknife, I carry two fixed blade knives in my backpack, a skinner blade and a caper blade. A buddy shot a doe late yesterday evening - we notched his tag with my pocketknife and I helped him take the doe apart using my Buck 102. OH

I could answer this more fully if moved to the general forum [1].

Need to define "blade" vs "implement".

Need to define "carry".

In my pockets

In my pack I carry more and bigger of the same on both fronts.

[1] - Question or seeking guidance from the moderators (whose job is really hard)... We know (and will defend) the Camper/Scout and SAK as traditional. Ditto the tiny lobster. Could you clarify where the line is between traditionals and what is allowable in terms of supporting tools that may have have equivalent tools to Scouts, SAKs and lobsters? It's not uncommon to see key chain style can openers and screw drivers. Also hard (for me) to talk about the pros and cons of lobsters without mentioning the Micra as an alternative. But now it's slippery slope into the Multitool (not general) subforum where it becomes reasonable to discuss my larger Leatherman compared to a larger SAK. At this point, I'm not feeling good about it.

Please note, this has nothing to do with thumbstuds, spidie holes and pocket clips, all of which is bad ju-ju and not why I come to the traditional forum. My sense is that key ring tools (like the Micra) in support of a traditional main carry is OK but best to stay away from discussing large multitools (even if carried along with a traditional main knife)?
