How many do you own - and why

I've done something similar to this on some gun forums. I own "several" handguns and rifles. A few are the same calibers, but the majority are individual calibers.

Now the same with knives, I own many folders, as well as some fixed blades. I have the knife I carried with me in Nam as well as the knife an NVA stabbed me in the thigh with during H2H combat one night. That one appears to be made out of some leaf spring material, but has the NVA star stamped on it. Anyway, I digress.

So, how many do you own, and why. The why for me is 1) because I have always loved knives ever since I was a little kid and 2) because I can!
 
150 or so. Like you I've always loved knives, fondling them, studying them and especially using them. Now that I'm an adult and things have worked out decently I can afford quite a few knives, from cheaper to expensive, so why not.
 
234 as of last week. I have loved knives ever since my Grandfather gave me my first Case knife when I was 5 or 6 years old ( I know way to young to have been given a knife). I have collected on and off through the years and always find something new to buy. I have everything from low to high end and everything in between it seems like. I have always loved knives and just keep adding to my collection it seems like weekly and sometimes daily.
 
I own five, with three on order.

One is a Pohan Leu Bluephin because I love me a good handmade knife.

One is a Lionsteel SR-1D starfire because I love me some damascus.

One is a Boker Federal because I'll never be able to afford a real GTC and I love me some GTC.

One is a Kwaiken by Josh Mason because I love me some clean grind, hartsfield style goodness.

One is a fixed tanto by flatblackcapo because that dude is awesome and I love me some fellow knife-loving punkers.
 
I own 6.
1 modern folder, 4 traditional folders, and one fixed modern. None of them are over $100. I don't buy often because I'm frugal and I don't have alot to spend.
I enjoy what I have though and thankful.
 
I own five:
Victorinox SAK spartan, I always take this one for camping or outdoor activities
ZT 0350BRN & ZT 0350M390, I use the ZT when hiking or camping when some heavy tasks may be required. I really like it. I am considering to sale the BRN since I actually only need one :)
BM 943BK, my "gentleman folder", I carry it when in suit.... Really ;)
Spyderco PM2, it is my basic EDC when I am casual
 
I am kind of surprised at some of the higher numbers. When I own something, be it a gun or a knife, it's personal to me and as such, I feel it needs to be used. I make sure all my guns are used, as I do with 90% of my knives. Having so many (I wish I had that many) would be difficult for me to use them all. I'm happy for those of you with large collections, and hopefully, some day I too will get there. Until I do, I'll keep collecting.

Ive been collecting over year and have around 120 some knives.....i had more but sold some cheaper ones off to buy nicer ones. Ive always had a thing for knives ever since i was a kid but never new about the world of collecting til i came across blade forums
 
About 15 Mostly customs, been trying to downsize lately.... not working out so well!

I have 40 or so Because I am still chasing the Dragon.

How many? A lot, I own a lot. Why? Well, because they keep making them and someone has to buy them.
 
I honestly don't know. If its manufacturers then around 50, if its my own then 135ish total with the manufacturers included.

I can say an exact number of 102 knives that I have made.
 
I have a pretty strict policy... if I don't use it, I don't keep it. Have spent the last couple of years thinning out my collection and am down to #12, 5 folders & 7 fixed blades (not counting the traditionals I inherited from my grandfather). From now on, when I find one I really want, I sell one to help fund the new purchase.

Of course this does not include my hatchet and axe collection.

Although I've had well over a hundred fixed and folders in the last eighteen months, I have very few on hand. I usually buy one ANIB, fondle it a bit, photograph it, and then trade it off or sell it. There aren't very many that I care to hang on to.
I can easily point to two manufacturers that I'm sold on...CRK and Spyderco. Yes, CRK's are expensive, but Spydies are not, and I love 'em both...consistently. I usually have two or three CRK's on hand, and five or ten Spydercos. I have more allegiance to the brand than to any particular knife, even though I have certain favorite models...

I don't know how many I own, and don't care if I know. If I buy something because I have an interest, I keep it regardless of use. I have a plastic tub full of knives and knife accessories that I don't carry or use.
 
Knife makers keep offer cool designs with great steel!!

I keep about 50 folders, but sell off a few that don't stand out with me, and buy different designs.
 
Twenty six. I have had a thing for knives since I was a little kid. Before I was able to buy them I would cut pictures out of magazines of the ones I wanted and keep them in my top drawer.
