How many do you own - and why

Somewhere between 60 and 70.... And most of them traditional.

25 or 26. 18 Folders (19 if you count a Leatherman Surge) and 7 Fixed. Love all the different designs, both aesthetically as well as the mechanical (if you will) of locking mechanisms and edge geometry. Plus when you get something so sharp it cuts like a lightsaber, it makes me all giddy.

So, how many do you own, and why.

The why for me is
1) because I have always loved knives ever since I was a little kid (so true!) and
2) because someday when i m far too old and done collecting,
i hope to collect big time from a despondent dictator who's out looking for something to buy...

I am not really sure how many I have; somewhere around 700. I have some cheap ones, some not so cheap. I bought one today and one on Saturday. Because I can.

Just one, a Microtech Scarab. Tight budget only allows for 1 or 2 knives at a time, so I use the forums to trade and sell up/down into things I'm interested in. I always have a multi-tool and SAK for my little cutting chores if I'm in between knives.

My knives, my guns, my hammers, my screwdrivers, all are nothing but tools. Why would I own more than I need. They serve a purpose and that is it. I find it pointless, unless I'm a collector (which thankfully I'm not) I see no reason to own many of them.

I own threee knives. I EDC all three every day. One is a Leatherman Surge for utility work, and the other two are a Kar-Bar TDI and a 599 Fox Karambit - these are for hurting bad guys, mere backup items to my main self defense tool, a Glock 19 Gen 4. None of this matters though without proper training, mindset, tactics, and skill.

Currently about 240, but I'm going to pare that down a bit. Focusing more on higher end knives. In fact, just bought my first CRK. Was a time that I had a $100 limit per knife for years. Well that went out the window after joining BF.

55-60, I haven't counted lately, most purchased in the last 16 months. A mix of modern folders, traditional's and fixed blades. Flippin' things are addictive.

Over 100 and counting.......................................................................
Because I really like knives and always will.

22 folders and 8 fixed blades. Some old some new. A few custom but mostly nice factory. I feel lucky to have a nice selection. My friends are always interested in my EDC items. Probably level out at about 50 total.

As many as I can get my hands on… Which is not a lot with my budget. However, a few folders and some tough sheath knives give me a decent amount to work with when I'm in the back country.

19 knives.

All of my knives have a "theory of use" behind them, be it a small suit knife like my Shoki, or a bruiser like my Busse. The higher number stems from finding a knife that will fulfill a theory of use better than one I already posses. I suppose I could sell the knife that is being replaced, but I tend to use the hell out of them, and generally adopt some sentimentality towards each one. There are a lot of memories scratched into these hunks of alloy. Hell, I have a knife that has my grandfather's fingerprint rusted into the blade.

I have about 23 at the moment, but some are male and some female, so when I'm not looking they get together and before I realize it, there's another one running around!

I own 6 pocket knives roughly. I'm very pragmatic and for my uses I think the 6 that I have are perfect.
A Delica and Mini-Presidio in CE, combo edges are awesome for yardwork as is fast deployment
Mini-Grip in the car's emergency kit, needed a solid, solid folder for the car
Opinel #9 I grab this anytime I need a sharp as hell knife fast that I can toss around and don't have to fuss with, I almost never use the lock ring
Trapper pattern by Rough Rider I don't use this one too often but I find the pattern to be perfect in size and comfort as well as having a backup blade
Peanut my favorite EDC of them all to date! Don't go anywhere without this thing

My first knife was a boy scout pocket knife from my grandpas tackle box as a kid. Then my uncle gave me a small pen knife.

Now I have 55 in my quality collection. No idea how many are in my user collection. They are all over the house...

About 60, 25 Case knives, 6ZT, and 5 Benchmade. Plus about 4 Custom fixes blades and a Kabar. Have no idea why, same as all of you I guess. Why would anyone waste time reading about knives on an internet forum.....because we love em'.
