One of my aims in life as a knife collector is to have at least 10 different types of damascus blades in my collector. I am still working on my dream project!
I do appreciate the work that goes into the Dasmascus blade and I do like the look of it but only for fittings. My friend loves it but I just can't get past the look of it for a blade. I personally like the look of a plain steel much better, but I guess im just a minimalist as well.
I also think if its too fussy then it makes appreciating the lines of the knife harder, but some of the patterned stuff like raindrop is just too stunning not to love.
Gabe, I liked the thread and feel my main source of brain food is trivia, especially if its metal and knife related If you get the time could you jot down some of the more interesting books or links that you have?
