How Many EDC a Flashlight and a Knife?

I usually carry 2 knives. FR is usually a spyderco Delica 4 wave PE/Bm 558 and in the RL is usually a Spyderco Salt-1 SE. I use to carry a Fenix L1T, it was a great light! It runs on 1 AA and was plenty bright, however, several times it failed to turn on when I clicked on the button. :jerkit:
I decided I could not carry such a light in case of needing a light to "blind" a possible attacker at night.

I switched over to a Surefire Backup and have never looked back. Yeah it cost about double then the fenix, runs on the expensive CR123, but at a distance you can really see how the light is thrown. Also, I know that if anything EVER goes wrong with the surefire, I am covered. I guess its kinda like you get what you paid for. The fenix now sits in my backpack as a deidicated backup light :D.

I usually carry a Novatac 120P along with a folder and/or a multitool. They keep my custom Springfield Champion .45 company.

"What do you guys do that need a flashlight? I guess most of the places I go are well lit."

Yep, depends on the city you live in. I never needed to carry a flashlight until I moved to a city where the streetlights are a sometimes thing, where sundown in the winter is 4 pm, and took a job which made me have to trace cables. Ever since I got caught with my little daughter in a "big box" warehouse store that had a total power failure, Daddy became a Surefire E1B convert and has never looked back.

If you wanna start small and sane, get yourself a Streamlight Stylus Pro. For $20, they look like a fountain pen and put out as much light as a two D-cell Maglight. You'll never know you're carrying the thing, and there's no such thing as a "dark alley" ever again.

I always carry a flashlight, and always have. I have been in the mall when the power has gone out, as well as the supermarket. I also currently work until 2300.

I carry a Surefire e2e or a LED converted 2aa mini maglite in addition to my edc knife/ knives.

Depending on which car I take, I have a LED Pelican light & a Ti tanto (4" OAL) or a Fenix P1 & a Hellion Nemesis. I also pocket carry another knife with an orange Spyderco Ladybug in the pocket & usually neck carry an Emerson La Griffe or Spyderco SPOT. I also carry a gun or 2 (Kahr PM9 or Glock 19 & a Kel-Tec P-32 or a S&W 442).

Since this thread is back... :)

For the people who don't understand why anyone carries a flashlight, here's another silly story.
My sister, mother & I had gone to see a community theater production of The Miracle Worker a few years back. Somewhere in probably the third act, the power went out. While the audience sat and waited, some stagehands scrounged up some flashlights. In the tradition of "the show must go on" the actors finished the play with flashlights aimed at the stage. It was really pretty cool. :)

My tiny Maglight Solitaire wouldn't have helped much, but flashlights certainly can come in handy.

this is the combo that id like to have grip, skeletool and fenix yes

I just got a Nightcore D10 and have mixed feelings about it. It's not as bright as I'd like, but for being an "AA" light it's okay. What I really love about it is its ability to reach extremely low light levels and preserve a battery for a long, long time. You press the button and it goes from bright all the way down to...well, nothing. Hit the switch again and it goes up to maximum output. Throwing a couple of these into an emergency pack with a bunch of AA batteries, you can literally control the output to preserve the energy you have. The lights also are very well made and easy to carry.

The Nitecore D10 has 100 different power level settings, allowing the
user to squeeze every bit of power from a AA battery. It also comes
with a warranty card which you can carry in your wallet, if you're so
inclined. I'd rather have a small holster for it.

I dont really edc a flashlight, seeing as I dont go out at night much unless its the university and I make sure to stay in well lit areas. but if Im going to kroger or out to eat I carry one of the small fenix flashlights and I take whatever knife I feel like going for. since I only wear slacks I tend to go as slim as possible since the thin material tends to show whatever you are carrying.

and once again proving that you can leave texas but texas cant leave you (even if you only live there for a few years) I always have my armalite in my car trunk. gun laws are such that I cant ccw a handgun (or drink beer, just so you dont think im a felon or something D: ) so I make sure to park real close.

I do. I carry a surefire backup and in my backpack is a surefire E2 Defender. I need it since I work graveyard shift. And on top of that I carry 2 knives on me:)

Same thing happened to me and you would be surprised at how many people will say how good an idea it is to have a light on you for emergency situations. I carry an Olight T-10Q5 that runs on one 123CR battery and puts out a max of 180 lumens, with 4 step down amounts under that. Due to its small size and the fact I have gotten accustomed to carry it, I don't leave home without it one me.
