How Many EDC a Flashlight and a Knife?

I frequently end up with three lights. :o A tiny keychain one, an "LED on a flexible stalk" type for inspecting equipment, and the totally awesome NovaTac P120 for all other eventualities. How come no one mentioned NovaTac? It's bombproof, feature-packed, and made in the USA.

I don't usually carry my full-sized flashlight unless hiking or camping. My keychain has a small Pulsar 2 LED on it though though and its come in handy on innumerable occasions.

I don't know how many of you have had the chance to try the new Fenix E01, but I just bought five of them for my emergency kit and for gifts. I thought initially they would be nice little keychain lights, but when I saw the light output combined with the runtimes, I immediately began carrying one. They're great for peering into computers and other dark corners, they're waterproof, they're made from HA-III anodized aluminum, and can easily be carried with a knife around the neck, if you wear knives around the neck. On one AAA battery, one light can give about 21 hours of light. My wife went to sleep early the other night and I put one of the E01s under the top part of my tee shirt and read for more than an hour without nary a blink. As a police backup, it has an incredible spill. And the best part is, while a similar Arc will set you back fifty bucks, the Fenix E01 is fifteen dollars, delivered. It comes in black, titanium, blue, gold and an electric pink. For people who wear neck knives or who just carry a back up knife discreetly on their persons, this light should be standard.

Three of these in your emergency preparedness kit will be money
well spent. Take any old AAA battery and this light will suck any
remaining juice out of it. Instead of creating a "spot" on the wall or
ceiling, you just get a generous spill.

The E01's are a great bang for the buck! I added them to all my kits and one on my keychain for EDC. Good stuff.

I usually carry this:

The flashlight is a slightly modded HDS EDC light.

In addition to whichever two knives I carry on any given day, I also
EDC the Surefire U2 LED flashlight. Like some of my knives, it is a $280.00 flashlight. But I use it everyday due to the ability to adjust the strength of the light to suit the situation. I also have a Fenix P1D-CE that rides in a ankle pouch along with 6 spare batteries.
But hey I also regularly carry two guns, a .45 Kimber and a .32 North American Arms. One on the hip, one on the ankle.
Fully loaded I always say!

SEE YA!

HA-III anodized aluminum,

Only the gray and the black. Type III anodization can't be dyed with any of the other colors shown. The orange, purple, etc are all Type II. Also, saying HA-III is redundant, as the term "hard anodization" refers to Type III.

Thanks for the information. Can't tell you how often I've seen HA-III, but that doesn't make it right irregardless of how it's used! ;)

I've always liked the olive/titanium. If I could buy the LEDs in different colors, I'd love to have a red, amber, green and blue. Not so much because I need them, but because they look purty.

I have my D2 Para Military on me and a green modified G2, it has a Z2 black aircraft aluminum head. They make for a stiking combo.

Confederate I may be wrong. I did some looking and someone said that even the colored ones are type III. I don't know the details, though. To be honest, at that price I don't really care. I like Fenix lights just the way they are.

Actually, you're right...er...or I was. Yes, it is Type III. On the CPF (forum), of which I'm sure you're a member (aren't you?), it's being favorably compared to the Arc AAA, also made of Type III aluminum, which goes for $50. How they can get aluminum this tough is beyond me...technology.

CPF members, BTW, can get an 8% discount on their Fenix lights, which is nice. The Fenix-Store has a special on where you can buy the older CE (viz Q5) models, plus you get a FREE E01. Factoring in the discount and the fifteen bucks or so, it makes the older lights quite a bargain.

I wish Smokey Mountain would sell nice lights as well as knives. I think the two complement each other. As can be seen from this thread, a lot of knife carriers also carry lights, which shows, I think, our overall good sense. I used to work in a place that had very tight security, so much so that we had no windows. Had we ever lost lights, which happened once...I didn't have a light...we would be dependent on someone who did. In this case, the office administrator had an old plastic flashlight with two "D" batteries.

I've carried a small light ever since, and for a long time carried a "something" River, an LED with two AAA batteries. Great light, but not as good as the E01 Fenix! My problem is similar to the problem I have with knives. There are so many good lights, it's tough figuring out which I like best. So far, the L2D is "it."

I used to have a Surefire G2. Still do, but it's LED Q5 now. I carry it in my side pocket jacket in the winter. Blinding.

Thanks for checking back!

In additon to my knife, I usually carry a Surefire G2 or a Surefire E2D. I'm planning on purchasing a Surefire E2DL due to the increased run time. I've tried carrying cheaper flashlights, but they all end up breaking. My Surefires still work great. As for knives, my carry for the last couple of weeks has consisted of a Spyderco PE Endura Wave, an Emerson Combat Karambit and a SAK.
