How many H1 knives do you own?

I only own one a fully serrated ladybug the thing is so small on size but big on cutting power.

6: Warrior, Rock Salt, Salt 1 (EDC), Caspian Salt, Aqua Salt PE, Aqua Salt SE. H1 steel is great stuff, immunity to corrosion means it will last forever unless you somehow manage to abuse it past its tolerance - possible, but not real likely. The H1 serrated edge is amazing, as mentioned. Plain edge is great for EDC, it may not have the edge holding qualities of some harder steels, but it is decent, sharpens more easily, and is definitely way tougher and more shock resistant.

I need to pick up some SE hawkbills, including a Ladybug...

Wouldent say that i collect them but i have a tasman salt and a pacific salt, the pacific has the torques screw construction which i belive they just changed recently.
I think they are great knives.

do you have one with torx screws? could you post a pic?

heck yeah, have 2 hawk and mariner, sad to see it is disc., am a charter captain and often am in the water (inshore charters) H1 is awesome, how bout jumping in ocean w/knife on and NEVER cleaning it and it NEVER even hints at rust!

I only had one, the dragonfly salt. That was a great knife. I could get H1 sharper than anything else.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone collects H1 Spyderco's. I used to have 5 of them but I ended up trading them. I got an Atlantic Salt on Saturday and I have a Salt I and a Pacific Salt on the way!

In the near future, I plan on getting a Spyderhawk, Jumpmaster, and an H1 Ladybug!

Ladybug Hawk SE
Ladybug PE
Salt Rescue
Spydhawk
PacificSalt Black
Catcherman Green

Three. Pacific Salt PE, Pacific Salt SE, and USN Catcherman... I love H1. I just wish Spyderco would make a Pacific Salt that was PS.

I own 2. First is an SE Salt I that i've owned for 5+ years. I keep it stashed in the center console of my car.

I also own the black blade PE Pacific Salt. This is my EDC at work during the week. I'm a QC technician for an ultrasound manufacturer and we have to dunk the probes in a saline solution to perform electrical tests. My hands are commonly covered in salt residue from this solution and I'd be concerned about carrying any other knife at work due to possible corrosion from long term exposure to this saline residue. This is the only reason the knife is my EDC and it holds up great. I do however switch to my Para 2 or my Benchmade 710 when i'm not at work. I do have to touch up the H1 more often that my other knives but it usually takes less than a minute to get it screaming sharp again.

H1 is the answer to an unasked question. If someone has problems with VG10 or S30V blades rusting, well, they're basically storing their knives in a bath of battery acid and salt water. Sure, H1 is rustproof. Big deal. It also (by all reports I've read) has awful edge holding properties compared to other Spyder steels. So it's not worth the lessened edge retention for what you're gaining in corrosion resistance. Not if you take halfway decent care of a "normal" stainless Spydie bladesteel alloy.

There's no "there" there. Take a pass on the whole H1 lineup unless you plan to store your knife in an old car battery. :(

I sail yachts and every other knife steel I've used rusts. Edge holding is decent with PE and very good with SE. I also use my H1 Spydies when diving, something that will kill almost any other stainless.

When in the mountains or in the city others steels are better, but out on the ocean H1 is a great steel.

I currently have 6 H1 Spydies :D

2 Spyderhawk PE
1 Salt 1 SE

Coming:
2 Spyderhawk SE
2 Pacific Salt SE

All are/will be users. Great knives at affordable prices. I don't find the edge holding 'awful' as someone said earlier. I am actually quite pleased with their performance with my minimal maintenance.

2 USN catcherman one always in my work bag the other in its box and one spyderhawk coming.

i only have one h1 blade. a se salt 1. and that knife has seen a thrashing that no other of my knives have ever seen. The edge did seem to stay valid for quite some time, though from the previous mentioned abuse the length of the serrations have been shortened and the knife has suffered a lack of perfomance bc of this. mine is due for retirement and i just cant decide if i should replace it with another salt 1 or a tasman

H1 is my favorite steel because I just don't have to worry about wiping the blade down and I can just throw it in the dishwasher at night.

In the morning I have a perfectly clean and worry free knife.

Also with the sweat from living in the humid south. Any other steel rusts in my front pocket. Thats why i gave up on my high end Striders and such.

I have 10 Spydercos, no H1. I don't have a need for H1 steel for what I do. I'll stick with the VG10 or S30V.

I see five advantages to the salt line, although some of them are pretty subjective:

1) rust proof
2) serrated edge retention
3) linerless FRN models are much lighter than the comparable VG-10 models that have full liners
4) H1 steel bends better, is less brittle
5) If you like the yellow color (which I do) you have that option

I only own a Spyderhawk in PE, but want either a Salt 1 SE or Pacific Salt SE (or perhaps both).

EDIT: Compensating disadvantages:

1) PE H1 has less edge retention than VG-10, SV30
2) Pin construction on most models
3) If you feel better having steel liners, it's not an option
4) AFAIK, you're stuck with black or yellow FRN

Price is roughly a wash.

Only 2, a se tasman on my pfd and a se yellow ladybug.
