be off ship, in the bad area & you can smuggle a K for your use!You have K's,modern & historic which would you take & what is your reason for taking "THAT" particular K??Thought I would "challange" you with this, never saw anyone post asking YOU this question! To me,you are the "expert" & THE historian,I for one would like to know!Hope I caused you to ponder! Thanks for your time!

John--any particular reason you opted for horizontal rather than vertical display? And how come you mount them sheathed, hiding those beautiful blades? (I think I know the answer to that one--because you'd need twice as much space to mount blade and sheath separately, and would have to move to a much larger house?)

What a lovely display. I wonder what stories those kukhris would tell if they could talk.

I noticed that many of the sheaths are designed to carry the karda/chakma on the edge instead of on the side.

I was also wondering what the is the average length of the kukhris in your collection. It is difficult to get a sense of scale.

Many thanks for the pics.

Answers (kind of):
I have no car, just motorcycles, but if pressed I would have to say a BAS.

Displaying most of the knives horizontally makes them easier to pick up and is also less pressure on an old scabbard than hanging them vertically although some are done that way for space/visual consideration.

RF, a bit confused by what you meant by the karda and chakmak. They are all (except for one) in place behind the throat of the scabbard. Some rest higher than the others and are more visible.

As to size, the first picture has the ivory grip with a brown scabbard measuring 19.25"
overall. The second pix has the large gold mounted piece coming in at 19.5".

Hope this all made sense.
