How many knives are in your collection?

My evolves constantly. I am always buying/selling in hopes to get about a handle of SAK's and MT's. Some I do collect and some to use.

I have about 10 MT's and about 15 SAK's. I also have a couple of Spydies but no fixed blades at all.

Hoping to get down to around 4 MT's and 4 or 5 SAK's. :) Sale coming soon! LOL

I want to collect a few alox ones besides the 4-5 to use.

I have been collecting for 10 plus years. My collection used to be the major companies like Kershaw, spyderco, benchmade but it got out of hand because they would come out with new models and steels each year. But with collaborations with makers like Ken Onion, Greg Lightfoot , Mick Strider etc. there are many that were very limited, microtech LCC, Kershaw Bumps, Spyderco Veile, Masters of Defence etc. I could just not afford to that any more so have gone with sprint run Spyderco like Mules and PM 2's. Mind you I have users like CRK's unique graphics small and large in BG-42,Custom feather damascus folder, collecting is a true addiction but I love my "Pretties" and still pay my bills and put away for retirement.

i got around 20-25 and i'm 20 and in college, currently saving up for one senzbas

About 80 buck 110s (I collect variations)
Some Spydies (ever evolving accumulation)
Some Busse/Bussekin
others
total around 140

Seem like a lot? That IS a lot. Is there anything else you own 450 of? I can say comic books from when I was a kid but that is about it.

No, I don't have 450 of anything else really.

It's all relative to the collector's interest though. For a serious collector of American-made pocketknives, 450 isn't very many considering the hundreds of thousands of different knives made over the past 200+ years. But to someone who collects variations of the Benchmade Griptillian, 450 would be lot, perhaps exceeding the number of variations ever made.

And consider how affordable and practical knife collecting is. Storage, ease of acquiring specimens, maintenance, insurance...
By comparison, the largest private car collection contains 3,000 vehicles. Jay Leno only has a measly 100.

I've got around 20, mostley are case, buck and schrade. All made in the USA.

I've been collecting for a year now.

I had 50ish, realised quality is more important to me than quantity, so now I have 15 knives I rotate and carry.

I get rid of what I don't use.

Last count was 300+ but that was 7 or 8 years ago, I'm afraid to even try to count 'em, I'll tell ya this though, even with all those knives I still know when one is missin'... ;)

I just don't have a collector mindset I guess. It bugs me to just have something sitting there unused. And 3000 cars is insane. Cars are crappy investments, but to each their own. It also matters what type of knives I guess. 300-450 Mall Ninja specials, not so awesome lol, 300-450 Hinderers is a different story. Me, I would rather have a sweet vacation home than 450 Hinderers lol

Too many. I'm trying to cut back to those I might actually USE! But there are a few I won't ever let go of whether I use them or not.

These in the pic plus maybe 25 more......

Outta the 300 + that I have about 5% are cheap knives I hang onto 'cause they were gifted to me, all the rest are a history of the knives I like and carry, most are in excellent to lightly carried condition.

Now granted I don't EDC all of 'em but within a year I'd say about 65% of 'em get some rotation and the ones that don't get pulled out to inform and educate here and at home to my family and friends and added into next years rotation.

Like manny here I fall into the accumulator/hoarder category, for some insane reason I beleieve if I don't buy every knife I like and can afford at that moment, they'll all eventually wind up in Elliot's, Gus' or Jack's collection... ;)

I've been in the knife world for about 5 months now. Started with 0 knives and now have 35 folders and 9 fixed blades. Lots of different brands, Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade, Zero Tolerance, KaBar and a few others.
I pretty much just skipped testing the waters and did a giant cannon ball into the water! I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent these past months either. I'll probably pass out! Lol.

Being a member here you get sucked in to this whirlpool of having to have the next newest/greatest knife. I admit I'm a sucker for that but also love the thrill of the hunt! I love the research and satisfaction that comes when I finally get the blade in hand. Oh yeah, love love getting packages in the mail!!

EDIT: I think this makes me a shopaholic as well? Lol
