I go through spurts of “knife buying frenzy”. The year started off quiet but then by spring , I started to buy a couple here and there. Then summer rolls around and I had a big flareup of uncontrollable knife “want” which led to more buying in July and August. By Halloween , it seemed like I had a new knife arriving in the mail almost every week. And I finished out 2021 with getting 4 more knives just before Christmas. However , I did sell a few but only to make room in my designated knife drawer for more knives. I buy lots of doubles , so when space gets tight , I sell the duplicates. It’s a vicious (and endless) cycle but I love it.

It would take me a while to figure out how many knives I bought this year, but I'm pretty certain I had something to do with the steel shortage and the reason why there was no room on freight trucks for your Christmas presents.

Prior to 2021 I’d purchased 2 knives in 2 years. My resolve broke this year and I bought 9 knives, though 3 of them are with gifting intentions. I may buy a few more this week as a hedge against new year’s inflation.
