More than I needed or should have ...less than I wanted ! :p

Honestly , IDK about the actual number . I'd have to check my records and I'm too lazy .

I'm thinking about 12. I really don't like to keep up with the number of knives I buy because, then I'll have to come to the realization that I've got more knives than I'll ever use in my lifetime even though I'm aware of that fact now.

Thank you Bob Denman Bob Denman , I needed to read that. I’m preparing to look at my CC statement at some point today.

I LOVE BLADE FORUMS.
Whoa , Nelly ! Maybe hold your horses , just a bit . ;)

Don't be lead astray into excess , madness , and poverty .

Resist the extremes of this sickness ...or not .

I just bought another knife, 5 seconds before this post. I’ll be applying the 12 steps to cutlery soon enough ( not even joking in the slightest bit ).

A quick count from the top 4 retailers I regularly buy from, I am at 32. Then there are one off purchases from smaller knife retailers, ebay, amazon, direct from manufacturers. I would still guess less than 50.
Don't make me think about it!

Another poll that does not have a choice applicable to me. LOL! ;)

I maintain a spreadsheet of the date/cost/type of each knife purchased, subtotals by type and the totals overall. So, I know that I purchased exactly 52 knives (so far) this year but the year is not yet over and I still have a couple of knives that I am thinking about buying.

However, I already sold 1 of these knives and may sell 2 others but the net could still exceed over 50 knives purchased for the year.

FWIW, this number is up from last year but down from prior years and I expect the count to decrease next year because there are fewer knives that I am still interested in buying (that I don't already own) and because the availability of those knives that I'd like to buy is limited and their cost generally exceeds what I want to spend on them.

P.S. 12/28/21:

I decided to pass on the 2-4 other knives that I was still thinking about buying before the end of the year. So, 52 purchased and 1 sold, net 51, is the final count for the year. I'm so proud of myself. 😇

I much admire your organization and discipline .

I've never sold ANYTHING . :(

Edit : I have sold several cars , but I believe that's it .

Thanks but part of the reason for this organizational effort is the pending change in the reporting of sales on PP (and other sites) resulting in a 1099 to be issued for sales exceeding a total of $600 gross in a year starting on Jan 1, 2022.

I am already planning to sell at least 10-20 knives next year and need these records in order to "prove" to the IRS in my 2022 Schedule C (or other form that I have to prepare) that I didn't make any (or at least very little money) in the over $600 of knives that I plan to sell. LOL! ;)

I also own 4 cars and a truck which are all older cars (3 "collector" cars, 1 SUV and 1 truck) ranging in year from 2002 to 2014. I do not sell buy/sell cars very often but did recently sell a 2000 Porsche 911 C4 Cabriolet after I bought a 2014 Z51 Corvette 7MT Stingray Convertible.

Life is good. :)

I think I bought three ... maybe four in 2021.

I don't anticipate getting more than two or three in 2022. I have more than enough knives to last the rest of my allotted time before getting planted.
