How many knives do you carry daily?

This thread reminded me to get a multi-tool. I usualy always have a vic classic sd then my folder, something like a para 2, endura,. Do you guys carry a survival tin in your packs? Ive got a small disposable blade in my survival tin if I carry it, Ive never even tested how sharp it was though, then I have another classic sak in my school supplies bag then a cheap multi-tool in my backpack. so I guess sometimes 5, but just 2 usually.

I'm in testing blade grind, edge finish & range of hardness (from spec, no instrument to measure), so 4 on me (SRM 763, Enlan EL01, EL02, Navy k631), 1 SAK Spartan Lite for the misc. tools in backpack.
The good thing about these Chinese knives are: mostly same decent steel, enough QC that's consistent, so I can afford testing different features (blade shape, grind, lock, stud/hole) without costing an arm & a leg.

763 is the one getting used most, among sheepies. If I'm among "trained" sheepies, any of them take turns being used, and usually only 2 locking folders (EL02 & SRM 763) and the SAK.

Always have two. Most of the time it's my Buck 301 Chairman and a folder. For the last 3+ weeks, ever since it arrived that folder has been my ZT 0560

Regular edc in city
Kabar last ditch in wallet
Tiny byrd on keychain
Folder of choice.....military, rat-1, dozier/kabar, mini-commander have been in rotation the past year or two.

I always have at least two. Lately it has been my Kershaw Tilt and Queen Dan Burke Barlow. GEC 61 half Congress, I carry quite often as well.

Nowadays I carry two or three. A Sebenza in case I need to cut something fast, and a slipjoint or two for whittling. I've really been enjoying my GEC sodbuster.

I carry one EDC knife, usually the ZT 0550, but I suppose that you could also count the Wave on my belt as well, although the LM is more for multitool use rather than for the blades. I will also occasionally carry a SAK Recruit.

I almost always only carry one knife on myself. They can be a huge range of knives, for the past year my CPM M4 Military has taken 90% of that role. However sometimes I make do with my small swayback jack, or my 2011 BF EO jack. Pretty wide range as the Military has almost double the blade of the SBJ :p

More frequently I will toss my SBJ in my pocket, while keeping my Spyderco clipped in my waistband. It's still rare, but happens more than it used to.

Yesterday, was going to a big Easter get together with friends as I have no family around. Decided to have the SBJ in case I need to class it up/whittle while there :P Military in case of any big cutting. And I grabbed my sweatshirt in case the Cali sun cooled down a bit. When I put my sweatshirt on, I realized it had my 2011 BF knife in there, so I was carrying three knives... that was new to me, and I definitely felt over knifed. especially seeing as I didn't cut a single thing.

One folder as a general rule. A little Maxpedition bag that I often carry has a multitool in it. No need for anything else until I'm getting my hat pulled off by branches.

I am a new collector andI have about 5 knives now that I rotate, but only carry one at a time. I dont see a need to have more than one.

I always have my becker necker in my back pocket and my endura in my front right pocket. I almost always have kabar short tanto, or sog seal pup in my boot. I usually have a victorinox tinker on my keychain.

Well I am kind of a knife nerd so 3. A Spyderco Delica, a Victorinox Super Tinker (like the scissors), and an ESEE Izula with the micarta scales. Aesthetically, I really like more traditional pocket knives (like a stockman or trapper pattern) but I would miss the extra tools and especially the little scissors.

2

One hand opening folder in RFP...lately, the Para 2 ( but soon to be replaced by the Gayle Bradley!)

Slippie in LRP...lately, the Spyderco Kiwi

I Carry two knives, my Para 2 and a SAK. I carry the SAK for three reasons:

1. Mostly for the implements and not for the blade.
2. To use the knife around the over-dramatic.
3. When some asks to borrow a knife.

Just a remark in passing . . .

In my previous post I note than I always have five or so knives on me, unless I'm wearing my jacket, which adds one to whatever the count is.

It was not always thus.

From the time I was 12 until I was 32 or 33, I carried a four-blade Imperial scout style knife (their red-handled clone of the all-stainless "demo" knife). During that period, I would occasionally carry a fixed blade during outdoor activities, and while I was on shipboard for a couple of years I would also carry a rigging knife.

In 1982 or '83, I moved into "desk job" mode, and bought a Gerber Silver Knight, a small, refined, understated gent's folder, which became my EDC from then until sometime in 2003 or '04, when I began to research knives for outdoor use (we had decided that 20+ years of sitting on our butts at keyboards wasn't as much fun as hiking and camping).

During that research phase, I started carrying an extra knife or two just so I could test them. Sometime in 2004-ish, I added a Leatherman Supertool to my belt as a permanent fixture (later replaced by the Wave I now carry). I started carrying a Leek as a primary EDC, and began rotating that with other folders, just to get a feel for them.

Then, in 2007 I picked up an unmarked nylon magazine pouch to wear horizontally on my belt so as to accommodate a full-sized folder, such as a Buck 110 or a Swede 92 or a large Case Sod Buster. I had begun wearing cargo pants in 2005 on the advice of a chiropractor to get my wallet out from under my butt cheek, as the chronic sitting-on-a-lump wasn't helping my spine's alignment any. With the new extra pocket opposite the wallet, I found I had room for another knife. And a flashlight. And tweezers. And eye drops. And . . . other stuff. Trouble was, I walked with a geek-rattle from all the miscellaneous pocket stuff on that side.

What I needed as a removable pocket pouch, made of something like nylon or leather. Took me months to come up with a decent solution. What resulted was that "glove pouch" you see in the first post. Cheap ($8) pair of goatskin gloves, turn one completely inside out, then roll the cuff down to expose the fingers and thumb. Voila! Now you have a compartmentalized pouch that will hold (in my case) a Streamlight, a SAK, good tweezers, a Style, eyedrops, and a compact flash thumb drive. Nothing rattles. I can be a geek without having to sound like one when I walk.

So now I have a permanent EDC (Leatherman), a full-sized belt-mount rotation, a front pocket rotation, a permanent SAK, and anything else I want to try out.

The good news is that I have now worked through the process of discovering what works well for me, and found that it's downright handy to have a full-sized folder (I make salad all the time), a multi-tool ('cuz I work in a geek environment), and something "civilian friendly" in a front pocket. Although I might ditch the SAK, I wouldn't ditch the flashlight, tweezers, and flash drive, so I will always have the glove pouch handy.

I can operate quite comfortably with three knives.

When it's dress-up time, and I have to lose the Bat Belt accessories, I can get by nicely with a well chosen pocket folder, usually a stockman pattern.

As a rule, I'm never far from my truck, and if I get to feeling under-equipped, I can just go visit the hardware in the truck. Very comforting. :D

Anyway . . .

I figured it might be worthwhile to explain the high count in my usual load-out.

It's not like I'm addicted or anything. I can stop any time I want.

I find myself carrying two lately.
More than two just gets in the way unless I'm camping, in which case a couple more can be carried easily, and for a purpose. Even then, I've never carried more than four, unless the purpose of the excursion was mainly about testing out different knives.:)

daily, I carry 3 knives.....a case cheetah in my right pocket, a leatherman PST on my belt, and a ZT 0350 in my right pocket.

I just found out that I was misinterpreting the student handbook at my college. It is changing to the above but also add a kabar BK14 in my back pocket with a paracord wrapped handle. In the summers when I am out of school, the bk 14 is on my belt in a scout carry (easiest to get at when working in machine shop)

1-3 but usually only 2. Today it's 3, unless you include the squirt then 4.

ZT 350, Izula, and buck 373.

Usually two on me at work. A fixed blade (M390 mule or EDC K390 slicer) and a folder (PM2, ZT 0560, ZT 551, LionSpy).
