How many knives do you have?

The numbers should not be used to compare with anybody else, to compare with any kind of quota, to compare with anybody's ideas of what is or is not good, right, etc. Each person can have as few or as many as they want. People buy and use knives for a lot of different reasons. If a person has 500 knives and they like to look at them and they get enjoyment from just knowing they are there, they should not be ashamed of that and nobody else should pass judgement on them. Occasionally people get the idea that they have too many and need to cut back. This is fine if they really think that way but I hope they don't get the idea that they need to do that for some other reason.

I do various categories that my knives can be divided into. Of course I have my EDC folders, about 7 of those. I have a collection of hand made fixed blade hunters, I have no idea how many there are, maybe 25. I have a few fixed blades I keep for EDC purposes but don't use them much. I have some spares for some of my folders. I have quite a few old junk knives that people have given me, maybe up to 20, but they count as knives. The folders in my EDC rotation do get used and I want to see that they all get used equally. My fixed blade hunters don't get used because I don't hunt, they were bought just to be looked at and admired and that is sufficient for me.

In my defense, I've received many knives as gifts and inherited a bucket load of traditional folders and hunting knives. So I've probably only purchased half of my accumulated pile.

Remember to always weigh and balance your load… you obviously had too many of your knives packed into the bow.
