And how many do you still own that you consider were good recommendations?

Probably 100.

Every spyderco and CRK worked out well.
I also bought a Ritter grip that was good.

The answer to this question is simple:
I can't count that high!!!

Knives are a very personal preference, Even if "ever body" loves a particular knife, it may not fit my (or your) needs or style.

That being said, I can't think of a single knife that I purchased after reading about it on the forum, that didn't live up to what other members said about it.
I may not have liked it, but I could not find any significant deficiencies other then my personal preferences.

All in all...If the consensus on the forum is good, you can be pretty well assured that it is as good as "reviewed"

Just my $.02

I don't know if I bought any knives specifically because of this forum- I've always bought a lot of knives. But I do feel that my decisions have been better informed since I started coming here. What I buy has certainly changed. For example, I haven't bought any more Cold Steel since coming here. And I haven't bought a Strider yet, though I had planned to before.

My regard for Spyderco as a company and for the their products has risen greatly. I have bought a lot of Spyderco knives because of this forum. I would probably have never bought a Military or a Manix if I hadn't read about them here. I had never heard of the Manix before. I had seen the Military before but didn't understand how good it really was. Now I have one, and now I know.

I also had never bought a knife online before, I had always bought retail (and still do, given the option). But discovering places like New Graham was eye-opening. I'm no longer constrained by the pathetic selection in my local gun stores- I can buy whatever I want now.

I think all of the advice I have received here so far has been good, I'm happy with everything I've bought lately. As a side-note, my political views have changed somewhat since coming here. After years of only being exposed to the liberal media, and being around liberal people, (I'm an artist), I hadn't heard many well-expressed conservative opinions before. The more I think about things, the more politically conservative I realize I am. Perhaps as a sidenote, I also joined the NRA as a lifetime member.

Several Frost Moras. Blade a bit thin but work well.
Heavin Forge. Magic. Kevin and Heather Harvey are incredible.
Corne Smit. Good, design needs consideration.
SOG, all from forum recomendations. Excellent knives. Sheaths not friendly I was forwarned and was prepared to make new.
Kershaw. Forum recommendation. Some styles didn't suit me. Nice kit though.
CRT. Bought on spur of the moment. Mediocre, Not excited.

I have only ever had one disapointment and that was a Buck sold to me over the internet. It was a fake. A real Buck was really cool until it walked.

And how many do you still own that you consider were good recommendations?

I had no idea what a Sebenza was until I came here. I am a Benchmade and Spyderco fanatic because of coming here. I am interested in Microtechs because I am a member of JerzeeDevil!

I couldn't tell.

BUT

I stopped to buy ccc's when I got on this forum. I got a few from members here too.

THANKS BLADEFORUMS!

I honestly do not know how many knives I have purchased because of this forum.

Every knife I've bought since 1999 was because of this place, although not necessarily because of a direct recommendation. I owe 99% of my knife knowledge to the Forum. I liked knives before, but this place turned it into an obsession. So, counting buying, trading, selling, gifts, and passarounds, I have had at least 100 knives pass through my hands, and I currently own about 30 good quality knives, including Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, Microtech, A. G. Russell (these make up 75% of my collection) plus other odds and ends that include some CCCs, Case, Schrade, Franklin Mint (gifts, of course), Buck, and some others.

Fallkniven F1, Fallkniven P1, Manix, S Jigged Bone Kiwi, .... soooo, all my nice knives. Pretty much finding this site was like meeting a crack dealer on the corner...

Swamp Rat, Spyderco Military, Strider SnG, Kershaw Vapor II - just because of the forums.

Where else can you get an breadth of experienced opinions on knives and discover the good reasons to have one before you buy?

Knives I wish I could have checked on fill a small wooden box - a lot from pre internet days.

Here's my example. Because of all the talk about Opinel knives and other French ring lock knives, I bought an ebony wood, Marjacq knife. This is a knife that I would have never considered purchasing and now it's one of my favorites. :)

I've bought at least a half dozen (a lot of $ for me) due to this place, but a very precise wish list has grown to a much larger number for the same reason. There are several makers/brands that I would not have otherwise known about. I certainly wouldn't have found out about the Moras that I love so much if it weren't for BF.

All of them aside from the alox Vic Secretary and Mora i had... possibly a CRKT f4 too but i can't recall. Oh, and some old cheapies from when i was a kid. Thanks bladeforums.

I've purchased any number of knives after checking what was said about them in this forum. As a matter of fact, I might not have become a "Sebbie freak" if I hadn't encountered all the information on them here.

It's all YOUR COLLECTIVE FAULTS!!!

Thank you,

Only 4 so far:

BM NRA Pardue
Kershaw Storm
Camillus Heat
Kershaw JYD II

Only because I've been low on cash. Once I get my new job... oh no....

years ago ( many... ) I was happy carrying a Buck Crosslock.... then I replied to a for sale post by G2 for W&H T10 Lancet Black & Tan....soon after I bought a Small Seb from him , then a Large.... then a Shinosky.....
now I have MANY knives in my safe , not all from G2 , but I blame him PERSONALLY for my addiction , fascination and love for quality knives... another person I blame is that Elishewitz fella , for all his customs getting " placed" in guns picts in American Handgunner.... as they say " the seed was planted " . ;)

I dont hold the rest of you responsible , though I am sure you all are in some way :)

oh yeah and thanks again G2 , Gary I owe you much thanks..... who would have thought 7 years after getting that W&H I would be making my own knives ( fixed blades ).....
