Since joining Blade Forums, I've learned about, was intrigued by, and soon bought some good, simple, basic folding knives with time tested and traditional designs, just the kind I like. I had never heard of those French made Douk-Douks before I read about them here, but I gambled on them and soon found out what good knives they really are! I have bought three of them now, one small and two large (the original version, not the huge "bear slayer" model) Douks. Then, while reading comments and information about these Douks, I learned of the similar German made knife called the Mercator or the "cat knife." Naturally, I had to have one of these, too, and now I have a pair of them, one from current production (Linder) and another from somewhat older production (Messer), but both were brand new when I purchased them. The Douks and the Mercators really suit my tastes and needs, and they are very inexpensive, too. That's a hard combination to beat!
