How many knives would you own, if there was no Internet?

I have about 700 knives or so and I have probably bought less than a dozen in stores. I would still buy as many as I could in stores but there are not many quality knives available up here so I would say I would have 50 or less. I am sure that something else would have taken all my money so I really have no regrets.

I would have just the handful of old knives that I've had since the 80s and never used much (5), and two old multitools.

That I actually purchased? about 4 max, a Schrade LB-7, a custom fixed blade and a SAK. I also have as being gifts a Randall, Buck 119and a couple of Western and Case slipjoints. I wouldn't have all the cool "standards" including Spyderco, BM and ZT...etc. without the Internet.

I would probably only have 30% of what I have now. I had my users and a few collection items found in mil-surplus stores, garage sales and pawn shops, e.g bayonets, swords, and the rare MK2/MK1. The internet is how I learned about companies such as Boker, Tryon, Cattaraugus and about knife types I had never seen prior to the internet.

Probably none. Maybe a few cheepies. But definitely not any of my Spydercos, benchmades, or ZTs.

Which would be a real real shame. But then my wallet would be heavy and I would be able to eat out more. Lol

About the same as I do now ~~ as I live very close to SMKWorks and they handle 90% of what I buy on the internet. So really I would not miss the internet that much ~~ one thing for sure ~~ it would not cause me as many problems and headaches as "one" of the Sites has.!** Plus there are still the Knife Shows and I go to every one that I can make and spend a $$$ or two.!

It would have made little difference. Before the internet we had many more local brick and mortar knife stores, more knife shows, and there was still plenty of information available from catalogs, magazines and books. The information flow is much easier and smoother with the internet and prices are more stable, which means that you are less likely to get butchered by an unscrupulous retailer and also less likely to stumble across collections of highly desirable knives selling for a song.

Probably zero because I rely on the internet for my purchases and decisions since there isn't a single shop around where I live that sells good stuff.

Probably less... Sharpening might still be a mystery unless I lucked into an edge pro user at a gun show.

Not many lol the internet gets me in trouble. I have scored a couple Spyderco's at the local flea markets but other that that they would probably all be cheap knives becasue no stores around me carry anything "high quality".

That is a great question that I never really thought of before and the answer is two. I would own a Applegate Gerber and a Spyderco. The internet has made it possible to reach production and custom makers to an entirely new level and without it I certainly would not have had access to 98% of the knives that I currently own now.

I would own three Beretta Tridents and three SAKs. I might have picked up and been inspired by Blade Magazine at the local Barnes & Noble, but the internet particularly BF stimulated my interest. Reading the BF archives are like a gateway drug.

My collection, sans internet.

The most expensive is the large SAK followed by the Parker Gypsy.
Both Gerbers were found and the rest were gifted.

I would probably own at least double what I have now but would have spent much less. And I would hate to think about the quality, or lack there of. Thank god for the internet!

I would have a lot less, but there are always knife shows.

Before I started buying knives on the internet I had a progression/evolution of EDC knives, maybe 7 total, and I would still be close to that with respect to folders. But I also do see knife advertisements in magazines so there is a good chance that I would have bought a few others. I wouldn't have nearly the big EDC rotation that I have now though.

Sadly, nothing that didn't come from walmart.

With information gained from the Internet the only blade carried there that I would purchase us the SOG Seal Pup and even then, it's not on my list.
