How many Oct. 98 people?

Still here, just tend to hang out mostly in the Buck and Spyderco areas now. You get tired of the recycled flame-wars after awhile.
I too miss James.

Another convert from KF. Got lots to learn so I mostly lurk. Thanks for sharing, especially those of you on Shop Talk.

Copfish & I have been on here since Bladeforums was a sperm. Think we were even here before (Saying it in a whisper) KnifeForums was an egg.
Anyone remember hanging out at the Benchmade Forums & only being able to say nice things about the other members and their knives?!?!? Or when, what was his name ... that Knifezilla.com guy would josh around & hack into the forums and delete everything. :D

God Bless BladeForums, you've come a long way baby!!!

Ryan - no kidding, his name is Josh. He also owns Pioneer Valley Knife & Tool.

Yup, I remember the old Benchmade forum fondly. It just isn't the same anymore. Mark McWillis really did a bang up job at responding to posts and following up on requests.

February 1999, here. Didn't make it in the first month or two, but I've still been here a while. I miss a lot of the old people too.

Remember when Mike Turber was going on about hitting 2K members? wow, those were the days. I think I had close to 1000 posts or so when I switched my name. Bleh.

I registered up the first week I think. Migrated over from Knifeforums. Don't post too much but always looking around!

Lurked here in Oct. 98, I didn't get my own computer until 99.

There have been some very interesting and heated topics. It has been a great time. I too miss James.

Guilty. Made the rec.knives usenet to redotknives.com to knifeforums.com to bladeforums.com and then pretty much settled down.

I still think of Jim Mattis as one of the people I would most like to emulate -- always the voice of reason, knowledgeable and even-tempered.

Still think of it as my cyber-home...

Aye! been here since Oct -98, so, does that make me a plankowner of BF?? coooooool ;)

Love this place, stumbled in here just after i got my (first) 'puter.
Been spending crap loads of money on knives i'd never'd done if BF hadn't been there. But i've saved more then a lot from being better educated about my buys thanks to BF.

But the biggest benefit is all the supernice people that i've met here!

Knife knuts are truly good people :)

I really haven't been here for all that long, but did lurk for quite a while before joining. Never felt comfortable with being part of a forum, don't know why. After a while I felt that Bladeforums was just to good a place to not take part.

This place has become somewhere that I like to visit often because of the great people, and the wonderful info that I have gathered from being a member here. I have butted heads with a few of the other members, but feel that I have always learned from these disagreements. I think that I have a much thicker skin than I had before joining Bladeforums. This to me is a good thing as it has extended into things I do in my everyday world as well.

My favorite posts are generally ones that I learn from or can help someone else with a problem or question. The funny ones can be a hoot as well. Even some of the ones that are of a confrontational nature are interesting, but I wish less turned into flame wars than do.

This place has given me the chance to converse with some of the best people involved with knives, and in my opinion not just in the world of knives, but some of the best people period. Some are gruff and to the point and sometimes in your face, but when it all comes down to it I wouldn't have them any other way.

Thanks for this thread. It has given me the chance to see how many of the original members are still around. It is great to see so many, even if they don't all take a big part in daily goings on, that still at think that this is a worthwhile enough place to at least keep on reading and in a lot of cases to keep on participating. Thanks all.

From the first week, if not day one. Also came over from BM forum & Recdotknives and the usernet.
