How many of you are the only knife carriers you know?

You just gotta run around with the right crowd. Most of the claims adjusters I know have a SAK of some sort, and most of the blacksmiths I know have beat-up old slipjoint of some sort. Like Vivi said, nary a clip to be seen on any of them :)
Me, I carry all sorts of stuff depending on where I'm going and who I'm seeing.

My brother used to carry a Gerber paraframe (as did I, I carry a Leek now, looking at putting a Spydie in there though), now he carries some sort of cheap flea market lockback... I'm thinking of buying him a Delica (maybe Endura if he needed something larger) for his birthday :)

My guitar teacher also carries a small lockback in his pocket, he took it out once to show me a little trick with picks (scratch an X onto both sides and it gives it grip).

My parents don't carry... I'm thinking of getting my mom a Ladybug (for her keychain) and my dad maybe... a Delica? :P Something he could put in his pocket I guess... black clip would be best if he were to clip it.

I can only think of a few people I know who don't! My friends all are outdoorsmen and work as mechanics, carpenters, wood cutters, fishermen, etc. Each carries some form of knife, multitool, or both daily.

At the power plant where I work with 22 other guys (and gals), all but 3 carry daily (the two women and the Asset Mgr.). Most carry a Leatherman Wave or a Buck 110, each of which our company bought us.

In addition, I've sold close to 30 of my knives there in the last few years. In fact, I just got four new orders this week!

Like the sign at the border says: Maine, The Way Life Should Be.

I can't think of anyone I know, at least anyone with whom I have regular contact, that does not carry a knife of some kind. Most carry more than one. A few carry more than I do, and sometimes we get in a "showdown" to see who has the most on their person at the time.

When Spydercos and other knives that clip in your pocket were relatively new to most people, there used to be what we called "Spyderco Checks" at practical shooting matches. Someone would call for it, then everyone would have to display their knives (most opened 'em, of course!). It was kind of like a challenge coin or medallion that some groups and organizations have. If you meet someone in your group, you challenge them and they have to produce their coin.

There are quite a few around here, which is surprising, seeing as my surroundings are mainly Canadian Christians, most of which happen to be pacifists. I know several people who carry knives on a regular basis, with most of these people carrying for utility functions, although some carry for the "cool" factor.

I'll admit I have made a bit of an impact on some of the folks around here who did not appreciate the function of a good knife before, but have since started to carry Spydercos.

It's always good to see somebody with a clip in their pocket and strike up a conversation.

I think carrying a knife is more a comment on their common sense than their pacifism. Even a pacifist should see the logic in using a knife rather than one's teeth to pry open a plastic package, for instance.

Well, over the summer I was the only one. A little over a half year later... I've got 6 people with knives, 4 of which carry them pretty much everywhere. Good knives too, spyderco mostly with a kershaw chive and buck 110 in there. I must say spyderco is the company that consistently has the people constantly carry their knife. the 2 that were never EDCed by the people I gave/sold to were the chive and 110. Those are great knives but somehow the spydey mystique I guess pulls them in.

I am the only every day knife carrier i know. plenty of my friends have pocket knives (mostly ones i gave them) but leave them in their desks. every time i spot someone friendly who has a clip in their pocket, i make a point to say hello, point out that i'm carrying too, compare knives, and talk shop. so far i have only met one person who was carrying a knife of higher quality.

(most are total crap, besides the no-name knives, seen one SAK, one s&w, two kershaw, one benchmade, one cold steel)
