how many of you guys carry your sebenza in a sheath

lisantica, did you order the spider sheath, or did it come with your website like your moonsong did? i've been trying to find someone to make me a sheath, but i have yet to hear from Vess, and i tried a couple other people as well, no go:(

Would anyone happen to know if there are any dealers or someone wanting to sell the CRK nylon sheath? Would be much appreciated :)

I like the genuine CRKs sheaths, and I like these aftermarket matching sheaths as well.

The spider sheath came with my website. Bought them used as a set.

Cool! Who made the beltclip pouch style, and how much was it?

It is a local maker in South Africa, but I am sure if you take the pictures to any local leather worker they can do the same for you.

Also, when vertical carrying - do you have any issues with deployment?

Speed is not that a big concern for me. Belt carry frees up my pockets, that I like. The only real issue for me is that I cant carry a knife on the belt all the time, it draws to much attention at work. It is easy to get hold of with gloves, no issue with gloves giving resistance on pants (I wear specific gloves that are made for diesel and water work).

Years ago I made my first friction sheath, watching videos etc. from Cutlery lover (he has an awesome Vess Leatherwork sheath that inspired me to try)

Lately I saw this video that has the same design principles I liked through my experimentation.

Basically, anything similar to Vess that is good quality is a great sheath.

Check out Lifter's leather for a great belt sheath. I have been using one for my XM-18 and love it. Only reason I have not gotten one for my annual seb is I am too lazy to send it since he doesn't have a knife to make it from. He is a great guy and his stuff is top notch.

I just wanted to share these three of the five syles of sheaths I designed and make for the Sebenzas.

Left to Right:
Hip Pocket Sheath for Large Sebenza
"Deep Carry" Sheath for Large Sebenza
"Deep Carry" Sheath for Small Sebenza

All of the above sheaths are designed for knives using a lanyard. Two sheaths, not shown, are made shorter to expose enough of the knife to grasp with the thumb and forefinger and those are considered the "Standard Carry" syle. The "Standard Carry" sheaths do not require a lanyard on the knife. Enjoy. :)

^^^ Those sheaths are pretty neat.

I use the new style CRK sheath everyday, on the job and off the job, I will post some pics later.

I have used it for just over a year now, I first had a Large Reg seb ride in it with the pocket clip, then a Lochsa w/ pocket clip and now I finally have a Large 21 Ebony Seb that rides in there without the pocket clip, I love the feeling of a Large Sebenza without the pocket clip.

The new style sheath rides so close to the body and is pretty discrete.
I can hardly tell its on my belt.

I love it!

Desert Hermit, very nice!!

How much do you charge for your standard carry sheaths?

The Standard Carry Sheath is the most popular Sebenza model after the Hip Pocket Sheath, and I will say here that it is comparable in price to the belt sheath offered by CRK. All of my sheaths are designed for Sebenzas with the pocket clip removed. The reason being that if one uses the pocket clip a belt sheath is unneccesary. For those of us who remove the clip a belt sheath is a handy item to have.

Before I go any further with answering questions I feel I should make it clear that I am not in competition with Chris Reeve Knives, it's Suppliers, or anyone else. I do what I do and they do what they do, and it is my hope that there is room in this world for us all. I do not wish to make Chris Reeve Knives or the Moderator of this Forum uncomfortable in any way and if any of my comments about the sheaths cross any lines I would hope that they will tell me so.

I create a line of similar sheaths in my "Knife Leather Traditions" leather shop as "after market" sheaths for another brand of knives. These sheaths are distributed by one of the major distributors of those knives through his online store. Personally, (because I consider them to be The Best), I prefer Chris Reeve Knives, especially the Sebenzas, so I designed a series of 5 sheaths especially for the Sebenzas, 3 of which you see pictured here. I made these sheaths initially for myself with no thought that others might find them of interest but they have become popular with Sebenza users locally. So I have put together a color brochure especially for the Sebenza sheaths.

Because this is a Chris Reeve Knives Forum after all, I am not quite comfortable in promoting my sheaths herein, and I hope you will understand that. I would like very much to answer any and all questions but I don't want to cross any lines here. If any of my friends on this Forum find these sheaths of interest please send me your name and address and request the "Chris Reeve Sebenza" brochure. Normally I charge $3.00 to cover the cost of the brochure and postage but, if you will indicate to me that you are a member of this Forum, I will send you a copy of the brochure free of charge.
