How many of you open and close your knives while watching TV?

Dude,
Sunday is opening day for the NFL Im watching 3 full games thats a lot of flipping

I am one of the guilty one so I feel it is safe for me to say this here; guys I think we have OCD when it comes to knives. We nit pick of everything from lock up to grinds to materials used. What is up with us? Why does a knife have to push cut news paper? I do not know myself, but I am one of the worst for sharpening my knives and testing the push cut on news paper. A blade does not need to be that sharp in order to work as a cutting tool. When you get those blades that sharp or that highly polished and after spending all that time getting it to where you like it you have to think twice about using the blade in fear of wreking the beautiful edge. :o

Yah, usually its when I get a new one. Loosening the blade to my liking or just plain admiring the design.

That is so true. Some even reach for their $15.00 beater knife to save all their high end EDC knives.

Guilty. I'm fairly sure that my girlfriend thinks I'm a bit off, and thats fine by me. In my defense, assisted Locksafe folders (like on my zt 301) can be VERY addictive.

i just cant stand boredom, so i take my knife out anytime i dont have something to do. just looking at it, and opening and closing it gives you something to do.

exactly what i do! anytime i'm not occupied by something else that involves hands, im flipping some type of knife.:D i think its more to cure boredom but i do have great muscle memory w/ my knives.;)

I practice dry fire with my firearms so why wouldn't I practice with my knives? In fact all the guys I work with do it too. Sounds like sweet music to the ears.

My favorite EDC is a liner lock so I've come close to cutting myself too many times playing with it. And the wife does not like me playing with a folder when my 4 year old is around. So instead, I play with a waved Delica 4 trainer. All the fun, none of the danger, less nagging.

I would but instead I have a puppy who insists I spend all my time playing with him, giving him a pet and treats. Therefore I should be able to get back to playing with knives in about a year or ten.

Depends. Some knives i can hardly keep from doing it. Some i just leave in pocket till they're needed.

But if i don't have a blade on me that twirls nicely, or am some place where doing that might cause alarm it's probably something else. Cell phone, flashlight, zippo, pen...

I find SOMETHING to fidget with most of the time I'm sitting still.

Me too. Always when on the phone, watching TV, I'm flicking my BM 710 as I was reading this thread and when I hit the submit button I'll start flipping it open again.

I like to draw it out though by admiring the profiles and turning them different ways to highlight the edge, grind or the reflections.

If I don't do that I must mindlessly sharpen or strop . :D
