How many of you started out collecting knives but once you got a Emerson that was it for you? That seems to be where i am at right now i find i want to get rid of all my other knives just so i can get more Emerson's and im not even sure i can say why. The knives seem so well built and seem so much more then any other knife i have carried, i have found myself putting off even buying some cheaper knives i like because there are about 4 more Emerson's that i would rather save up for. I think from here on out Emerson will be all i buy unless i get to the point some day i have all the models i want.

I find myself in much the same position. Logically I dont understand it. I mean how many similar knives do I need? Something about them that keeps bringing me back, everytime I get a new one , it just makes me want another one that much more! On the quest for a 7 now. Wish I wasnt broke :(

Tell me about it.
It's like that friend you have been waiting to meet all your life.

Said it perfectly. I tried almost every other brand, never thinking I even wanted to try an Emerson. Then I thought what the Hell! I traded for one and now I have 3 all in the space of about a month. Emerson is my company. I might buy a strider every now and then (I really like them also) and I might temporarily test out a new knife from some one else that I find interesting, but I'm sure whatever that is will be traded away shortly. Emerson will always be my yardstick against which everything else is measured. You don't pay for steel, you don't pay for materials, you pay for one Hell of a design.

I only keep knives that I really love. Everything else gets sold or traded off. This has me down to just a handfull of knives. Im not a fanboy of any maker. But, since I got my cqc15, I do want quite a few more emersons lol. The 15 is just an awesome design and fits my perfectly. I think a gentlemen jim and a commander are in my near future.

I'm convinced that Emerson knocked most of the Spydercos out of my collection. They just beg to be carried and used. But yes I have more Emersons on my shortlist than from any other maker.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I am not one.
Hopefully this doesn't mark me for eternity in these parts, as honestly I really really do like my Emersons.
Four out of the five that I currently own-- nothing could take their place.
The worst cut I've ever seen inflicted was from an Emerson (long night with friend at hospital)... and the deepest cut I've received on the hand was from an Emerson haha. My point is that though I haven't arrived at the same destination, I still really respect the EKI's in my stable. They are slicers.

But I gotta say that it's an exciting world and era of blades we're all living in and I enjoy being able to try out different concepts and executions of vision and technology.

Anyhow, I wait... and shall continue to wait patiently for longtime #1 on my acquisition list: stone washed plain edge Horseman :)

Plenty of room for everyone, brother. My Spyderco knives aren't going anywhere. ;)

I feel your pain. It started out with a Super CQC 8 for me. Followed a few weeks later with a Super CQC 7. Then a CQC T. Then a Super Roadhouse. Then a 13. Then a Super Commander. In less than a year, I think. Emersons and Spydercos are now the only folders I really buy. Even Benchmade has dropped off my Must Have lists.

Joseph Im sorry brother, I Introduced you to the madness, emerson is my favorite brand, but not the only brand i carry Blasphemy! I know...I even carry A COLD STEEL OMG!!!!! But gotta give credit where credit is due the recon 1 is a beast.

Guilty.
I have some really fine folders but the CQC7 always goes back in my pocket.

Guilty as charged! I also have a healthy collection of Cold Steel knives because they are tough and they are good workers.

+1 on that Recon 1 comment as well.

Yes, agreed, Spyderco is a close second to Emerson.
If Spyderco offered a chisel ground folder... who knows?

A chisel edge'd Spyderco...I could get behind that. As I said i've found myself moving away from Spyderco in some regards. I think i've just tried my share of their models and i'm just now realizing what suites me best. Still a few models from them i'd like to try (GB, Yoj2). Also a few from BM: 810, Ares, AFCK and of course a midtech or two so I can see what all the fuss is about.

But I like to keep an Emerson on me most of the time.

Ernest, like Chris Reeve and Sal, created a perfect folder formula. That can only be done so many times. These models are just perfect.

Agreed! And to break bread with you guys, I'd like to let ya know that BladeHQ has the Horseman back in stock! Yes I already ordered.
As well, the Bullnose Karambits are available directly through Emerson right now. Coincidentally, I was already headed to Los Angeles after work today. So, as of tomorrow, one will be in my hand

Me too the 7 is a classic , everybody should have at least one I've said it a lot on here that's the one knife I will never be without at least one of, people blast tantos, but actually use it and youll be amazed at how they perform, and I dont mean penetrating things, they make great edc knives,
