How many per day?

2 A 3-4 inch folder and a SAK camper. The SAK for the tools and to loan if anyone ever asks to borrow a knife. Honestly the toothpick gets used more than anything :)

Three.

My Spyderco Tenacious that I never leave home without.
A three inch or smaller slipjoint which is the actual work knife and its rotated out almost every day.
A keychain knife with scissors and fingernail file.

I like knifes, and so do Dorito Monk:D. I carry 3, or maybe it's more like 2 1/2. One is a larger single bladed, locking, one-hand opener, pocket clipped, knife....alright, a tactical knife, as that probably sums it up better than anything else I could say. The second one is a slipjoint, and the third is a knife blade found in the Leatherman Juice II I carry. I'm just one of those knife knuts that like to carry their toy's!:)

So many knives, so little time. Carrying more than one at a time makes me think that my mutiple purchases are justified.

I carry a NiteIze pouch with a Leatherman tool of some sort and a Spyderco Rescue. I have a long, nasty commute daily, so I carry them. There's usually a small folder in my pocket for regular tasks. My employer says under 2.5", so a Gerber LST, BHK Frontier First or Tiger Knapp. Yeah, the Leatherman and Rescue blades are greater than 2.5", but they rarely come out in the office anyway.

Only two knives at a time (counting the Victorinox Rambler on my keychain) but, that can easily add up to 4+ blades at any given time - today it was a Case medium stockman in addition to the aforementioned Vic.

Two. One is a small folder that is in a Maxpedition Micro Pocket Organizer with some other stuff. The second one is either a larger folder or a fixed blade and is someplace more readily accessible.

Hi shadow -

I ALWAYS carry my Vic Waiter - can opener, corkscrew, tweezers, bottle opener.

In the other pocket is either a nice one-handed opener, Kershaw Tilt, Skyline, Volt, ZT 0551, Spyderco Military, Benchmade 890, Emerson CQC 7, etc. etc.

I recently have been carrying my 2011 BF Traditional Forum Knife - it's a dandy.

Powernoodle hit it - I could easily get by with one. I like to carry two because I can, and I like knives.

best regards -

I carry 5 daily.

- My Buck Stockman is main utility knife, about all that I would ever need for cutting chores I encounter.

- 2 more, predominately as SD, but also to do bigger cutting chores if needed are in each back pocket. (Spyderco Military and Kershaw Tremor).

- 1 is entirely backup SD, a Meyerco Law Dog necker

- and 1 is just so that when you think you've run through all your blades, you haven't (if you have a Boker Credit Card Knife in your wallet).

But besides their "purposes", I just really like knives, and can easily carry a bunch of them compared to guns, which I like about as well. :)

during the day I carry 2:

EDC folder, currently the kershaw Blur Limited (zdp-189) or the Benchmade Rift

Benchmade Num Cub II (3.5" fixed)

The folder handles everyday cutting tasks, the benchmade is primarily for SD (cant carry a side-arm)

If I go out at night, especially when walking the dog or with my pregnant wife, I add a third knife. The Ka-Bar TDI purely for SD.

I usually carry 2 per day. For the past 4 months I've got a Spyderco Bug on the Keychain and my main larger knife that I choose to carry, usually a mini stockman.

Reason #1: The keychain knife, which might be upgraded to a Vic Rambler/Manager if someone can talk me into it, is always on my KEYS, whoever might be using them. My main larger knife is always on ME.

Reason #2: If something happens to your one knife (I just saw a thread recently about "Worst Lost Knife Stories"), you can't just ask someone else for some help because hardly anyone TODAY carries a knife. Back around WW2 like PowerNoodle mentioned, many people only carried one knife, and if that one knife broke or was lost, a useful one was only a friend's pocket away.

Reason #3: I am an active member of a knife forum... I'm going to carry more than one knife. Case closed.

For a long time (~14-15 years?), I just carried one (2.5"-3" locking folder). Added a SAK more recently (6 mo. or so) after recognizing the need for a more people-friendly knife in some situations. I added an Alox SAK Classic to my keychain around the same time for no particular reason. It's small, light, and not really noticeable, so I figured why not. So, I typically always have 2 now (locking folder + SAK Classic), and sometimes I'll carry a 3rd (regular SAK).

I carry a utility blade and a food blade (I work in a butcher shop and don't always have time to clean the first one). If you count them as knives I also carry a Juice CS4 (for pliers and screwdrivers, mostly) and a Vic Rally on my keychain (for bottle opener and just in case I forget my knives).

Generally 2 to 5, dependant on the time of day. At work I generally have 4 or 5. When not at work its 2 or 3. As others have noted multi-tools get carried for the tools not the blades, but they still count as knives...
Juice on the keychain, Charge on the belt. BM915 is my work knife, only gets used at work, my EDC of the day stays with me in case the 915 dulls out. Finally, depending on whats for dinner a BM torrent rides along as a steak knife.
Do I need so many knives? not really, but I like em! although in all honesty if they made a knifeless version of the Charge, I would get it in a heartbeat.

Lets see, Leatherman Wave which is always with me mostly for the pliers and occasionally for the drivers and knife. A small folder in the left front pocket and a big folder in the right front... The small is people friendly and the big on is primarily for SD or large cutting tasks, Also have a CRKT p.e.c.k that is always on my car keys which usually ends up opening my mail... or holds my keys out of the bottom of my pocket... So 4 seems to be the number for me...

1 Tactical Folder (Currently giving the Alias I a lot of pocket time, by far my favorite benchmade...IDK I like it just as much as the 943...)
1 slipjoint (was a case slimline trapper, now a spyderco grasshopper.)

Mostly 2 in my pockets.
Either a folder or a small fixed blade, and a SAK/traditional.
Additionally, I always have a swisstool spirit and an abuse folder in the backpack, which is with me most of the time.

The exception is when barbecuing in the woods with friends, then I carry ~4 knives, but it is never enough :)
