How many "pix of knives"?

OK- I should probably change my name to Old Curmudgeon, but really how many pictures of everyone's knives do we need to see in a thread like this? Does anyone actually got through 14,000 plus posts to see what everyone else owns? I think people are just posting here as some form of ego gratification (forum-bation if you will). If someone wants to show their latest acquisition or how cool their collection is, why don't they post it in a subject-specific forum (latest purchase, smoothest flipper, best steel, etc.) and be done with it. Don't threads run out of steam at some point; can't we just make this a sticky?

Thought this thread could use a knife pic.

I’m cool with it. Could care less

I do roll my eyes sometimes when I see a forum member use a $500 knife to cut up a banana and talk about how great of a slicer it is. =)

Seriously though, we have collectors, users, and abusers. We have traditional guys and we have modern. I like seeing the different pictures. Some knives I have no need for but still respect it.

What I DONT like is when petty stupid arguments spark in a thread completely derailing from the original post. IMO those guys drag the forum down.

Don't mind seeing pics but I think it should be mandatory to list the knife make/model for each pic.

I would appreciate that, especially given how often people seem to post pictures of (to me) obscure customs. I would make it mandatory for any knife that doesn't have a visible makers mark/trademark logo. :D

I don’t mind the pics. I have bought knives I would never thought about buying due to someone posting a pic.

What drives me crazy are the band spanking new $500+ knives posted in the “what are you carrying” threads. No idea how people carry and use these knives and they stay pristine.

And maybe people (me included) like to take pictures of their knives at different times, locations and situations. It's more of a "What am I carrying today and I bothered to snap a picture I like"-thread for me. While I tend to just go with the name of the knife in the latest purchase. It's not like people repost the same picture of the same knife over and over. Plus, why be bothered, the thread is clearly marked, you can just ignore it.

I'll see your Old Curmudgeon and raise you an Old Fart;
I'm not sure I even understand WHAT you are saying.
Here . . . go out and get some of this stuff and maybe some ice cream to go along with it and . . . FEEKIN' just relax.
That's what I did and I feel much better now.
by the way do any of you have any photographs of knives ? I have been reading just tons of posts today and there haven't been any photos to go along with the overwhelming number of names of knife models . . . as if you think I have seen and cataloged in my mind images of every knife that is out there.

Commmmmonnnn guys post some photos now and then to go with all this dry text will you ?

I follow the logic of b00n. Sure I'm not taking pictures of crazy ass customs or anything like that, but I like snapping a neat picture of my knife from time to time so why not put em' in a picture thread.

If I was a member of a Parenting forum and was throwing around pictures of my CruWear Manix, yeah that'd be weird. BladeForums is one of the few places it's actually normal to do just that.

One of my all time favorite pictures is of a close up shot of my Ritter during the Solar Eclipse last year.

Hey . . . bananas are a lot harder to cut than you might first imagine . . . don't you remember that thread back in the day where the guy was cutting a banana from a bunch and almost died . . . or . . . something like that ? Who has a link ?
Oh and there was a photo wasn't there to help us understand the technical difficulties involved in banana bunch surgical standards.
