I gotta think my average is over one hundred times especially if it is assisted. I also look at it under a low powered magnifying glass to see the fit and finish and how the blade locks up it it's a liner or frame lock.

Am I crazy or is this the "norm?"

Tons and tons. I oil the pivot up, then keep working it until it stops getting smoother.

You're freakin' nuts. Send me your knives, and look into a 12-step program.

I don't count, but for my first 6-7 folders I didn't really play with it too much. It wasn't until I got my Sebenza that I started flipping it constantly. Now I'm giving the Sebenza a break and started playing with my para 2 a lot.

I open and close it a couple of dozen times to work the action.
Oil it if needed,
Re-sharpen it.
Start using.

Open it hundreds of times? no.
Sore thumb? Only on one knife that had a stiff action and an extra small thumb stud.

Magnifying lens? - no. Maybe if I bought customs. But even then only maybe.

:thumbup: That's pretty much how I am. I figure after using it a few times, the quality, or lack thereof of the knife will show itself. Besides, if I sat and flipped my knife open over and over, I start getting very dirty looks from the wife..:D

Not nearly as much as most in this thread.... Crazy....

I just open them a few times to make sure everything is good, put an edge on it if needed then I start using it.

I got a pair of left and right Millies yesterday. I've opened them maybe 10 times each, simultaneously, so far. At this point, they seem to be what I expect of a Military, somewhat stiff but both are smooth. So no need to sit there and wear at them. Like the one I bought it 93 and still use, eventually they will prove their worth.
