How Many Times Do You Open A New Folder In The First Week

a hundred? I normally do that in the first hour or two lol but yeah its pretty normal.

Ditto! Within the first week that number is probably in the thousands. I guess I do it partially to wear in and smooth out the pivot, but mostly I just do it because I'm excited about my new knife and can't put it down or stop playing with it.

Thanks for all the responses. Glad to know I'm not alone.

When I get a new knife, regardless of the price - I just can't keep from messing with it.

I don't bother to count but with some knives it's quite a few. I have my ZT 0500 now and its not a knife that's flickable unless you loosen the pivot quite a bit.

I open and close a new knife 147.5 times the first week. Then the second week I will open and close it 133 times. Then the third week I don't open and close it at all. Then the 4th week I'll open and close it 53 times. Then finally the 5th week I open and close it twice.

Approximately 500 cycles a week to soften the action. I've known a difference in softer action.

Just got a new spyderco native and it is so smooth I open and closed it till I had two blisters on my thumb and still can’t stop.

I usually open and close it a couple of dozen times, unless it is stiff then I will oil it and work it until I am satisfied with the smoothness. Normally the higher the quality the less I have to work it.
