How many times will I check my pockets

If you are on facebook look and see if there is a metal detecting group local to you. Those guys love this kinda stuff and often will come look for it for free. If ya was close to me I'd steal dad's detector and help ya. I help him sometimes but not near into it like they are.
I'm anti Facebook for personal reasons.
But I did go over the path I walked extensively with a construction cleanup magnet and didn't get anything.

I've sometimes had pocketknives slip out of my watch pocket when I've been seated at a certain 'fixture' (ahem ;) ) in the house. It's happened often enough, I'm always glancing at the floor near the base of that 'fixture' when I'm finishing up. Traditional decorum would ordinarily keep me from speaking of such things. But under the circumstances, I felt it's worth mentioning. I feel your pain, in misplacing a pocketknife.

Best of luck to you, in recovering that knife.

That was my first thought and I looked all around it.
I had just put a new seat / lid on that day too which had me even more suspect of that as a place to look.

By now I've forgotten most of that day, so I kind of just have to hope it randomly turns up at some point.

One thing I've noticed with lost things is that they're always in places you never thought to look when found, weird unexpected things happen that are never obvious.
I've had knives fall out of my pocket quite a bit due to chairs which I no longer use or have, but I always knew exactly what had happened and where to look.

I’ve never heard you mention having kids so I assume you don’t. My technique years ago when my kids where kids was to offer $1 for my missing knives (back then I rotated two Schrade’s; a 108OT and the Uncle Henry version, and two small SAK’s) - they were always ended up in chairs, etc. My kids would spend an hour to find the knives and get that $1 - they’ve been gone for years and so has everyone of those penknives. OH
