How much did your entire collection cost?

30 years of my life, and what it's worth I couldn't tell ya.

I bought a 1920-30, green bone handled Case equal end pen with a pipe bowl cleaning blade at an estate sale for $3 what's it worth?

One of Bud Nealy's first customs, I know what I paid, but what's it worth.

It's only worth what some one's willing to pay, and that can change day by day.

After seeing the guy on QVC sell 250 knives for $99, she figures it's a cheap enough hobby.;)

Let's see... 270 knives, $1 apiece, minus the ones that were gifts, equals about $200. :D

Seriously, I have no idea, although it's on a spreadsheet around here somewhere.

Somewhere around $100K, all told including vintage Al Mars, William Henry and the higher end productions. By far the lion share of that is in handmade folders.

Not nearly as much marcangel, but I'm only 51, I still have time. :D

About £12,000 UK Pounds insurance value for swords, bayonets and knives. They were collected over 20 years or so. I used to know a guy that used to bring me such great stuff on Sunday afternoons that I couldn't say no to. Used to buy a lot of stuff at auction as well, before e-bay was invented.

I'd have to say between $2,000 - $3,000 would be a good guess. A good chunk of those are Sebenzas. The rest are Benchmade, Spydies and the usual tactical type knives. Oh.. and way too many 110's to count. It's a sickness that only people on these forums understand.

Over $15,000. spent, including shipping charges, taxes and border duties. And I thought I was crazy untill I found Bladeforums.:D
My wife just shakes her head.!!!;)

If I add it all up, hmmm, let's see here... FREE! Because somewhere along the line I had some knives, and I always sell one to fund the next one, right? Unless of course I lost a few bucks on a deal somewhere... Nah, never happened!:D

I just bought a Large Ritter Grip, so that brings me to $420:)

The exact amount I don't know. I make sure they depreciate accordingly.... the ones that appreciate stay in the drawer.

Better question is how much you spent so far this year?

Total, I have no idea and don't really care until I want to sell some.

Was a sort of dedicated collector of interesting pieces and customs for some years..... collection one time appraised at over $46,000. Been selling off the last year or so, safe queens probably only total $12-$15,000 now, hope to get that way down (not that well-chosen knives aren't a good investment at times, just too much work for the return, and it's just stuff you don't use anchoring down one end of the house.)

Maybe odd but my taste in working knives over the same time as gone very practical and minimalist ..... a lot of that having to do with the fact that the mid and higher end of the production knife market is so filled with hype, and honestly most the stuff isn't priced on utility at all. Plus quality control on a lot of $200-$300 knives is no better than some costing 1/10th as much.

Anyway I could easily live with a "collection" worth less than $300 and do all the cutting I need. But I'll probably always own a few frivolous blades just because I like them for some reason.

I'd say I have about a $2k or so in knives (including the kitchen) on hand and about 2k more in guns. The kicker is that I have spent many times that over the years, but I am the type who trades off that which is no longer used or disappoints, no matter how "interesting."

So I have fewer than 20 knives on hand that are non-kitchen knives and about six firearms. I have just never been too sentimental or pack ratish.

Dollars donot matter .... I enjoy mine.....some I use ,some I abuse and some are to amuse here are about half of mine .I was going to try an photo all of my knives but it is tooo much work.
