I’m glad to hear it! It seems true that lately I have been hearing less about BM qc issues. Maybe the sun has finally set on that chapter of BM’s history.
As I hear more and more people say their BM came without defect I will believe it more.
I only have 4 BM's, my (old beat-up second hand) 580 has perfect centering and no blade play (but with the AO spring that's cheating), my new (August) 940-2 has a slightly off centered blade and slight blade play. My three week old Bugout has a slightly off centered blade but absolutely no blade play. My Mini Grip has perfect centering but slight blade play (that knife was my first BM bought back in June).
I just bought from W&W out west, an all black PM2 as well as an all black Para3 and both have perfect centering but both have slight blade play. So even though I can tighten the pivots on all my knives to remove blade play, action suffers and I much prefer the action rather than blade play, as well as the fact that blade play is not an issue just affecting BM as others seem to suffer from it too. I could avail myself of the warranty but because I live up here, I have come to accept some slight issues and use the things until they fall apart.
Still saving up for a 484 though...

I've purchased around 10 benchmades and every single one was perfect out of the box, the QC complaints are kind of a shock to me
Go to a casino or buy a lottery ticket my friend, you are on a roll!
10 recent purchases?
Your one of few. Or our interpretation of poor qc is not the same as yours.10 purchases over the last 4 years
Not sure that's true. I've heard it's always been the same. Just back then they were more affordable and people looked passed it for the good prices. Fairly debatable but no concrete data one way or another.Other than that yes, the drop in QC for BM is fairly recent and not even 4 years ago they were bang on product after product and worth every single cent. In fact I would say they were a bargain for what you got.

One thing is for certain, it's something that's going to stick and no other manufacturer has that stigma. I can't say I haven't seen a good benchmade, cause my friend buys many, and he certainly has some good ones. But I have not owned, of the many Ive had, that didn't have at least two issues or more.
