How much is to much for a knife

That depends on several factors:

How much I've got.
How good the knife is.
How many similar knives I've already got.

Pretty much how many bills i can throw around, and i get one thats good quality, and one that i can afford:rolleyes:

Any price as long as it is unique in my collection and I REALLY want it. If it does not conjure up goose bumps, it isn't worth it for me at higher prices! :D

It seems that I’m always asking how much is to little. I may look into buying a knife for $50 and then think to myself if I only toss in an extra $20 I can get that really cool $70 knife. Then I ask my self I’m already spending $70 what really is $30 more for that really cool knife on the exchange for $100, and so on and so forth.

The least-expensive knife I own cost $100; the most expensive $2,500. Though if I was made out of money, I'd have no problem with spending more than that.

depends on function versus flare.

A knife that is built to be used should cost less that a knife that is built to be looked at.

I would have to look at the costs of producing a knife and the overhead. I feel like a knife that costs over 400 bucks that is built for functionality (not flare) is probably more than enough to cover costs and make a good profit. As of yet I dont think they are worth it. It is just steel. But, since I dont know the costs and overhead I really am not qualified to say.

PS I have never gone over 130 for a knife

Depends on your level of wealth and income.

$100 for one isn't the same as another.

Since I am not a collector, ( for investment ) I seldom go much over a hundred. with a little experience you can buy a heck of a good knife for a 100.00 or less. However it depends on how much you have and/or what priorities you set for your total spending.

I guess anything above $80. My ZDP Endura was $80, and that's the highest I've gone and about the highest I really ever plan to spend. I look at the more expensive knives, but then I see a picture of a Delica, for example, and ask myself, "Why am I going to get that $130 knife when the end result with this $50 knife is the same thing?"

I've been doing that lately with the Tenacious... Why get the $50 knife when the end result with the $30 knife will be the same?

It all depend on the knife.

If you want it and can afford it, I say go for it.

For me, the most I've spent on a knife is about $250.00. Now I have a few custom guns that if my wife knew how much Ispent on ........;)

I think it depends on what your goals are. user or collector basically. I recently bought an SNG, which was a lot for me. While its a very nice high quality knife I had to pose the question "if I want to use this as an EDC knife what if I lose it". If I ever lost it, I would feel like a tool for weeks and I couldn't as easily replace it. So what I'm saying is that if it would really hurt if you lose the knife its probably to expensive. .... I've never lost a knife by the way.

One million dollars is too much.... unless you have one billion. I would say if you can afford it then it's not too much.

For me,a thousand is too much for me to spend on a knife.A couple of years ago my limit was $500.We'll see what I say in a couple more years.:p

$1000 seems like a lot, but I could see me doing it. I say 2k.
At that point, it stops being a knife and something you try to keep the dust off of

If it requires financial planning, it is probably too expensive. For me, at this point in my life, anything over a grand is too much. I've never spent anywhere near that. If you're flipping burgers for a living, ten bucks may be too expensive. If you're pulling down Oprah money, ten thousand is pocket change, and 25K may not be too much for something you like.

If you get kicked out of your home because you spent the rent money on a knife, it was too expensive, no matter how much it was.
