How much is to much for a knife

If your family has to go without something in order for you to get the knife, it is too much.

I got a sebenza, It was probably a little too much, but in a couple years I wont feel the pain. I just see it as days worked. Its about 4 days work for me, which isnt too bad. Id work four days for a seby anytime. I love it and it brings me a lot of joy whenever I use it. I love my knives so they are worth it to me. I collect, and take pride in using them. I also try to buy them for the people I love. I think if given the chance to use a good knife for a while, every person would use them.

Spend what you can and get the knives you will USE. That is the key I think

How much is too much for a knife? Anything more than its worth is too much. For some knives it could be $5. I think what you really mean to ask is how much a person is willing to pay for a knife that they really want and that they can also afford.

$500 for me. If i had $500 right now...well i would buy some sunglasses, a really sweet pen, and a cheaper knife. But i swear the next $500 would go on a DGG Digital camo SnG in ranger green G-10. Oooh yeah, thems is sweet. I doubt I would ever spend more than $500 USD though. Obviously that might change if i suddenly got rich though.

How much is to much for a knife?

When you pay more for the knife than its worth to you.

For a working knife, anything over $35-40 is too much. If you're a collector, then there is no price that's too much.

Or, any amount you can cough up while still being able to pay the mortgage and/or car payment!

I buy knives because I use them. Have for about 50 years. In that time I have found that stuff happens to knives. The get lost. They get used up (never any of mine, cause I rotate, but I've seen old users with no blade left). So there is only so much that I am willing to put at risk in my pocket in the form of a knife. So far the most I have spent for a knife is $65 for a Queen Cattle King (large stockman).

My opinion is that if you see something you want and have the means to buy it, do it. It only too expensive if you cant afford it...obviously.

this is a difficult question to answer with just a dollar figure. is it for collection, EDC, or investment?

The only limits to the price I'll pay are how badly I want it, and how much money I have available to spend. So far, a little under $450 is the highest price I've paid for a single blade, but I'm sure that will go up in the future eventually.

It wouldn't depend on any other factor if the asking price was $1 trillion. Therefore, the answer is: $1 trillion is too much. Unless it gave you the power to rule the world.

For a production knife anything over $200 is too much for me.

For a custom knife...sky's the limit (although even if I don't think it's too much for THAT knife...I might still not buy it because of much needed funding for other things.)

For me, over EUR 100 is too much for a knife. I could spent more on a knife, but I want to use knives and I don't want to be afraid of losing or damaging them. My most expensive knife is a second hand Buck Alpha Hunter that I bought for EUR 60.

first of all, its "too" not "to"

in anycase, any amount is fine as long as the knife makes you happy I say. A 400-500 dollar Busse isn't worth it to me because I'm just not a fixed blade type of guy but a 400-500 dollar OTF auto would be worth it to me cuz even though I will never really use one other to play with it, its fun to me, I like them, and they amuse me (not unlike a prostitute but that's an entirely different story...).

I'd say it would be if its not in production anymore and its something you really want.

What? No, I'd never pay over $200 for a production knife. No matter what company, materials or whether it's still in production.

$200 is too much for anything that wasn't made just for me.

Can you afford to lose it? If not, then it's probably too expensive.

+1. If I lost both of the knives in my pockets right now I'd be out $20 for a Vic Camper and $30 for a Boker pen knife. I could do that next payday without putting a dent in grocery money.
