How much is your collection worth?

*wife asks how much I’ve spent on knives…
“oh, I don’t know, I suppose a bit here and there adds up.”

*me talking to my kids who are going to inherit my collection…
”you’d be surprised what some of these cost, keep what you like and do your research before selling ANYTHING.”

Which of your kids will rat you out to the Missus?

Not going to say, don't like it out on internet and someone may show it to my wife

Crazy how everybody is scared of their wifes 😂 Mine gets me knives for my bday, xmas and also inbetween. Happy wife = plenty knives! A slogan to live by. Lucky me I guess.
I’m not scared, mine buys me a knife once in awhile, but she does give me the side eye followed by a “what did you buy know?” when I tell her to watch the mail.

I wasn't ever scared of my wife.

She was scared of me and I divorced here when she became a PITA. Too many fish in the sea. 😎

Situation dependent.. it isn’t “good” or “bad”. Some wives support the hobby… some don’t care.. some would freak out if they knew what we spent. Think about it like this: Say you spend $1,000 on knives a month. Imagine if the misses spent that on clothes. I bet there are a few here who might say “what do you need all those clothes for!?” or “that’s too much money on clothes!!”

Different people have different ideas as to what a couple spends their money on. Some wives are more controlling on finances.. some couldn’t care less as long as basic needs met.

That's very true of course.

Wife lets me spend what I want as long as bills are paid and monthly expenses are taken care of. She probably spends more on her stuff than I do anyway.

I wasn't scared of mine... I was TERRIFIED! 🤯
But since she has passed: I miss being terrified...
Sorry to hear about that. As I get older it's happening to more and more to my friends.

My girlfriend knows I have a lot of knives and appreciates that they're handy, but the exact number is unknown. I have them all on a file and could count them all, but it's a constantly changing number. I tell people I have more knives than Jupiter has moons, but a lot less than Imelda Marcos had shoes.

I have many limited editions from case, boker , buck, a pair of Ray Cook custom folders. I have just recently acquired an English fruit knife made in Sheffield in 1846 it is engraved pearl with a sterling silver blade it is 176 years old and never been used Hallmarks on the blade verify a .John Greco tanto, Michael Poole camp knife and with the Blade Show in Atlanta Ga. about an hour from my house. Some of the best knives in the world are there.

This thread makes me feel old, because I have been doing this whole premium knife thing too long.

At some point most of us will have knives that either aren't made any longer or are from makers who no longer make. That can push prices up but for me it mostly pushes up their value to me.
