How much money have you dumped into your knife collection?

I was going through receipts looking for deductibles for my taxes, and I kept coming across ones for knives that I've purchased in the last couple of years. This got me wondering how much I have actually spent on the knives in my collection.

So... I went back and dug out everything I could find on my knives and started adding up prices. I just made estimates for the ones that I couldn't find receipts for, and when I got to the end I was pretty surprised by the total. In the last few years, I have poured over $23K into knives! And the weird thing is that I have NEVER spent more than $200 on a knife. It's my self imposed upper limit for a single knife. That got me to wondering how much some of you guys have dumped into the hobby. It wouldn't take all that many customs or Hinderers to blow past what I have spent.

So.... Any of you guys have an estimate of what the hobby has cost you?

Last time I checked it was about $16K conservative estimate. That was a bit more than two years ago, since then the total has probably grown by another couple of thousands. I was traying to be better: buying less at a time and increasing time between purchases. It sort of worked...

about $150 so far. i need to keep things in perspective with paying bills, saving for the future, and everything else.
i only buy what i'm going to use so i tend not to buy on impulse. more window shopping than buying. :D

$713. I'm still trying to find out what exactly I like in a knife, so I tend to buy $40-$50 knives with features I've never used before. I only have two knives worth over $100 right now...but I'm worried that my summer job will change that :D

I promised myself years ago, that I would never look at how much I have invested in knives. I do know that that total, while substantial, is no where near what I have spent on rifles, both custom and 'off the rack' pistols, revolvers, holsters, gunsmithing, reloading stuff, bullets................... no where NEAR those totals. ;)

almost $3000... and the bladeshow is coming soon... Looks like ramen noodles for lunch for the next few months.

A little over 1k, net. I keep selling and buying them, and I don't think I've put a new dollar into my knife collection for months. I typically wait for a really good deal and then resell it if I don't like it. Collection isn't even the right word... Armory? I use all of them, and don't have the money or desire for safe queens.

No idea. I probably should have kept a record. If I had to take a shot in the dark I'd say 5-6k. Of course that's not taking reselling into consideration.

I would say about 30k but could be as high as 40. I don't really keep track but I have about 500 knives or so and a lot of them are $150 but some are cheaper.

I just added them all up... 36 knives and I have spent $1335 (most expensive is $218). I have received 11 of my knives as presents.

Over the course of 40 years...let's just say "a lot" and let it go at that. I know it is more than my cars, truck and home together.
