How much money have you spent on knives in the last year?

I don't even want to think about it...

If you factor in my knife purchases, knives for the 'collection(s)', the knives I've bought for my wife, knife show travel costs, etc...more than SAS, less than nirand...

*Wow* I shoulda just stuck with crack...woulda been cheaper... ;)

Just dropped an easy grand at the Blade Show in just two days. Would've tripled it if I had it with me without blinking.

At least I have time now to save up for next year.

I'm sure its at least $5000; more if I count a Sharpmaker and a EdgePro deluxe sets. I've bought at least one of every Busse available, a large sebenza, and several customs. Would have been more but I cancelled a TNT and a Mnandi when they took to long and my divorce brought me to fiscal sanity.

Hey lightweight; is that YOUR picture? Nevermind, don't tell me. Sometimes its better to live with the fantasies!

Whether it's $100 or $100,000 - there are worse ways to spend your money. When I was still in radio, I knew an announcer who shovelled about $1,000. a month of snow up his nose. So, I say, what's a few Sebenzas and Mayos among friends?

Let's just enjoy our knives.

About $350 so far and budgeting for a Granfors Bruks axe this month.

I quit smoking cigarettes 16 months ago, now I budget my former cigarette money for much better whiskey, guns, knives, gadgets, fishing gear, and so on. In my case this comes out to about $1500 USD/year (I smoked way too many cigarettes). At least this way my money isn't going up in smoke.

I don't recall - I can not even remember whether I have bought any knives (ever).

I am sending a copy of this thread to each of your wives, G-Fs, and Mothers. If you want to be taken off the distribution list; please send your favorite knife to my attention ASAP :)

I just added it up going back to last Fathers Day. Let's just say waaaay too much. I think I better cool it. I am setting a budget and allowing my self x amount per month and will save up for the ones I really want the most.

Some of us have been on permanent "father's day" presents to ourselves...:D:D ;)

Texascarl, I know where you are coming from. I quit chewing dip. I was at about a can a week. Problem is now I can rationalize EVERY knife purchase as the money I am saving by not chewing, lol. Oh well its better for me by far!:)

OK,

quite a lot, but it will slow down in a few years when I have my portfolio together and then just mostly trading a few, buying and selling a few.

The important part is that my collection is probably worth a whopping 70% of what I paid for it! I use the knives.

Well....total expended over $5k

Total resold about $2.5k, so a net increase of about $2.5k since May 2001 when I first logged on to Bladeforums.com.

Man, you guys are too cool...lol, and thanks again! :D

Carl has his priorities in order it seems, and N2S, always on the lookout for a quick buck, er knife...kekeke

Mel, on the road

p.s. Sounds like Architect is with the program to me..."In one hand, out the other, don't get attached..." Paul Basch, circa 2000

Well, this was easy to figure. This time last year, I only owned two knives (a Kershaw Blackout and a CRKT KISS), so all I had to do was find the photos of my collection, pop up a calculator window, and endure my roommate's taunts of "don't forget your sword" and "that Sebenza you bought for a gift technically counts, too".

Almost $6k. :o
