How often do you change your EDC

Just killing some time and thought I would start a thread for the fun of it.

If you are like me, you have more than one knife that you consider an EDC. I bought a ZT350 coated blade and enjoyed it thoroughly, but I began to read about different metals and decided I wanted to carry an Elmax blade, so I picked up a ZT360, which I also love. Both weigh in about the same, so it's kind of hard to decide which one to carry every day. I liked both equally for different reasons. In fact I liked the way the 350 felt and looked and handled so much and the the uncoated blade of my 360 that I bought an uncoated version of the 350 so now in addition to a bunch of what are called "gentlemen's knives to pick from, which I also carry to cut fruit or veggies for snacks I have the additional decision of which heavy folder to carry for other stuff.

So now, I am trying to figure which to carry and was wondering if or how you all rotate your favorite knives. I don't work so I don't need a discreet knife for work and my life follows a pretty constant routine. I guess variety makes life more interesting, so I will probably rotate from time to time just for fun.

Do you for example just wake up and grab the one that feels good at that moment or do you just store all your knives and pick a favorite that you always carry? I assume many have one for work and one for play, which doesn't really apply to me or one for hunting and one for around the house, also not me since I am mostly home when not in our nearby small town shopping or walking in the woods which I do daily.

One thing I found is I really like having my bigger folders in a nylon pouch. I have a great pouch for my 350, which is the Maxpedition and a SpecOp pouch for my 360 which is perfect for the size. That free's my pockets up for change and keys,my small fruit knife and wallets and stuff.

I have two Spydercos, three Benchmades, and one Kershaw currently in my EDC rotation. I pick one every day based on what I'm wearing or what I'm doing that day.

I have a whole drawer of edc's. Which one I grab when I leave the house depends on the mood I'm in.

I have about 7 in my current rotation. I change each Monday morning and carry that one until the next Monday morning. I'm in the process of establishing a crude order and once that is set each Monday I will just pick the next one on the list.

I've been involved with watch collecting for awhile and I have about 6 watches I rotate through in the same way. I've seen a lot of people that will sell a watch (or a knife) because it isn't getting worn (carried). If it is a watch (knife) that I like then I put it in my rotation and that way it WILL get worn (carried) equally with everything else in the rotation. It keeps me from playing favorites. I don't know that it is bad to play favorites but if I did that I might have just 3 knives that get carried regularly instead of 6 or 7, so for now I'm trying the rotation. I do have a few others that I can carry for special purposes, and I will alter my rotation a little bit depending on what events are scheduled during the week.

Primary folder + backup folder + multitool + flashlight + FB + ink pens + cellphone- that's a lot of stuff to carry in my pockets.

I also have a couple of different Leatherman tools that I will carry depending on circumstances, and I'm in the process of trying to find a backup knife that fits in my carry habits to carry in addition to the primary folder. Right now I have a Byrd Hawkbill SE and a Spyderco Ladybug SE that I am trying. I'm thinking about trying a Dragonfly or Delica as backup. And lastly I'm considering trying a fixed blade in the 6.5" range as backup, maybe backup to the backup. I would carry it in my pocket and I would pick something that could be used as a mini prybar if need be.

At first I thought, why buy all these knives and since I bought them within a week or two of each other, I could have returned them to the retail seller. All had satisfaction money back guaranteed conditions. But after having handled them awhile, I decided I wanted to keep them all. Each had something special about it that I liked. Now, despite my best intentions, by definition, I guess I am a knife collector. But I want to use my knives not just bury them in a drawer.

I carry the same knife everyday. From few months to few years at a stretch. Only break out other knifes if I'm doing something that need a specialized knife.

i kinda just go with feels good on the day ive two spyderco's, a boker and a gerber that somebody bought for me, if its a particularly tough day ,doing things that will torture the blade i take the gerber because i HATE it! apart from that go with what you like the most

Hmm, I generaly carry a knife until I buy another, so about every other month I would say, but some time find a knife I realy like and carry it 95% of the time for several months.

I have a rotation of many different blades (not talking flashlights, MTs or other stuff right now) that I pick from depending what I am going to be getting into.

My base EDC is on my keychain and that includes a Spyderco serrated LadyBug, than I will have a smaller EDC blade like a Spyderco Persistence or Spyderco Chicago and depending what I am doing a larger primary blade like a Spyderco Endura or Spyderco Manix 2. The overall EDC changes often...

I've been selling off a lot of my expensive production knives off to fund customs. Right now I currently rotate between, an XM18, Sebenza, Will Zermeno Pointman, Shirogorov model 95, Les George VECP, and a Kershaw 3600. With a production knife as a secondary (Delica, sage2, buck mayo, Skyline and so on).

I change almost everyday but lately it's been the Keshaw 3600, this thing is like a custom its soo killer!

I rotate through about 6 knives for the most part and I change it up 2-4 times a week.

I carry the same stuff every day, often for years, because it works. I'm always looking for something better, and that's why I'm here. If I find a better game in town, then I'm on it.

It's hard for me to say. I'l usually change my main and secondary EDC blades out arbitrarily. I like to try and carry a broad array of knives so I can figure out which ones work and the ones I can do without. A lot of times I mix it up and carry both a traditional and more modern folders at the same time.

I depends on my mood. Some days I'll carry the same knife for a few days, weeks or months. For the better part of two years it has been a Para 2 mainly. But I do switch it up. Currently my rotation includes: XHP Para 2, M390 Military, ZT 0560, Gayle Bradley and Sage 1. Occasional secondary blades are: Delica 4 FFG, Composite Leek and Skyline.

I change my large blade folder (blade over 3 inches) almost everyday. I say "I am going to carry such and such knife all week!" and then I read a thread on here or think of another folder I like. I seriously believe that I haven't carried one large blade knife for more than two days in a row.

Usually it's a Delica 4 matched up with either a LM Squirt P4 or a Vic Tinker. Depending on mood/occasion I switch out the Delica with a Rat 1 or PM2. Sometimes I forgo a OHO completely and match a multi-tool with my Case Peanut. Sometimes I carry a Case Peanut, LM Squirt, AND a OHO. I try not to take out all three in front of the same people in one day so they don't know that I am obsessed with knives haha.

for years i only changed when i lost my everyday knife. lol
for the last few months ive been carrying a cheap imperial trapper pattern folder.
last week i had a breakthrough and bought an opinel *and* a swiss army knife even though i still have the imperial.
been carrying the opinel since then to see if i like it. and i do!
