How often do you change your EDC

Normally it's my large blade knife that stays the same and my small blade that changes.
Now that I feel I have the two perfect EDC's... they aren't really subject to change right now.
Of course, that's until I find the next "Perfect" EDC.
My large knife has changed a few times in the past 9 months.
Para2
Chokwe
ZT 0560
Large Sebenza

Of course I sometimes can't help it and carry two big knives.
My current perfect EDC though is: CRK Large Sebenza 21 + Spyderco Chaparral.

I change my knives very often. Sometimes I do it just because I feel like it, but I also adjust my knives to where I'm going and what I'm wearing (on a regular weekday I change clothes 3 times for very different activities).

The only thing I hate about traveling is picking which knives and tools to take, and sticking with them for a while.

I always carried a knife, 9-11 changed all that. At work I,ve carried the same knife for about 6 years, a CRKT Casper Crawford. I have a leather man in the backpack which Is pretty much what you can get away with in NYC. I used to work nights, I carried one then regardless of the consequences, better to live and face a judge then a body bag..but it's gotten so crazy in NYC that they can spot a knife from a pretty far distance..And with bag checks on subway entrances it's just too risky..

I change it about 3 times a day. Sometimes more.

I'm down to one folder so I don't rotate at all. I'm thinking about buying another, but that just complicates things.

For me, some of it depends on the day and what's happening. What I DO carry every day is an older Case XX Sodbuster Jr. in a Victorinox belt sheath and a tiny Victorinox (for the toothpick, scissors and nail file) on a neck lanyard. Then, I always have a vintage slipjoint in my right pant pocket; the model changes weekly or thereabouts just because I just love so many of them ... this week it's a Schrade Walden #825.

(My elderly dad said to me recently, "No one carries a pocket knife anymore. They've all gone to these single blade "tactical" knives with pocket clips. Used to be you would see the old timers sitting around together with their slips ... whittling or just cleaning the crud out from under their fingernails. Men used to use their little pocket knives for all manner of daily jobs. You just always had one in your pocket." Of course, here at BF, we all know that many of us DO carry a slipjoint pocket knife every day. It is true, however, that in today's culture it's not something that everyone carries as a matter of course anymore.)

Moving on, I will always throw an Opinel #8 in a jacket pocket. An easily replaced medium workhorse around the property, if I should wreck it. And, when I go to the job of mowing and clearing ... I strap on a large blade knife, usually an 8" blade Bowie or some variation, for heavier tasks like light hacking and such. (I keep a cheapish saw-back machete strapped to my little tractor for the nasty bits.) And finally ... when hunting squirrel, grouse or deer ... that calls for a fixed blade hunter pattern of some variation.

Does this mean I'm crazy because at times I have up to three or four knives on me? I certainly hope not! I suspect there are more than a few of you who can relate!

These days I usually carry my SAK (Adventurer) or Delica or both. Occasionally I will carry something different. My field bag (for work) contains about 5 different knives which I usually have access to if I need a change for a particular task. But the first two generally come through for me.

For me, it's all about what I'm doing for the day. I can even switch edc's multiple times in the day everytime I leave the house.

I usually carry a traditional folder and a modern folder. It all depends on the last thread on here that I've read.

I have about 8 folders and 6 fixed blades that I will carry at least 1 every day but often 2 or 3 depending on what I am doing that day. I have a large collection of safe-queens and I don't hesitate to get a new one out if the notion strikes me.

I have a drawer for my EDCs and just pick a few knives from there. It currently consists of my Para 2, Cryo, Delica 4 waved, and my Tiny Trapper.

I usually upgrade when I get a better knife, but I've been thinking of downgrading from my Delica4 to SRM763, just because they're so cheap and replaceable. Also comes with a bottle opener, which is pretty nice.

I have about half a dozen that I rotate through. Which one I pick depends on where I'm going mostly, but sometimes on what pants I'm wearing!

HI cutitout -

I have a big dresser drawer full if my folders.

I always, ALWAYS, have my Vic Waiter in my left front pocket - non negotiable. It gets a ride every day.

The right pocket, I pick out a knife based on my thoughts of the day - will I be in meetings all day, will I be working in the yard, will I need discrete carry, can I flaunt a big ole' knife, will I have dress pants or jeans?

I have a large rotation, so it could be anything from a small SOG Flash or a smaller traditional (for going into Chicago), up to a Spyderco Military or ZT0551 (and now a ZT0560...) or my Tilt.

So - to answer your question - there is one EDC that is the no question, gotta be there EDC, then a rotation of my other collection as I feel for that day, week or sometimes a month.

best

I usually leave my EDC items in my pockets of my pants and change EDC when I change pants, so once a week, depending on the weather and what I'll be doing.
