How often do you cut your self?

I'm not too stupid with knives, but I've learned to sharpen. And guess what, the days to cut ratio us dripping. I don't get my self bad, small nicks, little fillets that don't do anything but hours later I see them.

Got myself about a month ago, the toe. I keep forgetting not to ever sharpen that knife, every time I do, at least 2 cuts.

And now, not half hour ago... playing with the kukri :p I says to my self, "self, can I just use a stone on this here kukri?", 30 seconds later, "why yes, yes I can". Oh, but the darn thing is carbon steel and it's got some spots, off to clean....
Luckily I only took a small peace off my finger tip (sry, no camera), equally lucky, it missed my feet, both bounces. Hot DAMN it stings, haven't got my self like that before.

So how often do you get your selves and how bad?

I think I've cut my self once, when I was drinking about two years ago. It stopped bleeding in a few seconds, nothing major.

Sometimes I have the stupid habit of partially opening my Case stockman while it's in my pocket. When it closes, it inevidebly closes on my finger, thus cutting it.

Usually get small nicks, there are two nicks on one of my thumbs right now. I got two bad cuts on my left hand (one on finger, one on palm) by razors many years ago when I was making some models. Scars can still be seen clearly. Left hand usually gets hurt, because i am right-hander :(

I don't know...If I averaged it all out as to number of times I've cut myself divided by years I've carried a knife I guess it would be about once every couple of years. Usually it happens when I'm working with a blade and get distracted.

Luckily, not very often. I can go years before drawing blood. Most of my cuts are superficial 'slices' on my fingers which do not draw blood.

But if you count straight razor mistakes, I manage to cut myself every month or so. Shaving just shouldn't be done before coffee...

Just today, had my Leek and wasnt thinking and was hacking at some little tree thing *seeing what the leek can endure* and it went through the tree and slice my arm.

Fairly often.

Just flesh wounds. Nothing serious. Use sharp things a lot, stuff happens.

No big deal.

Alot! Just started with knives in January. I'm finding I cut myself less as time and experience accrues. No stitches yet, however. My Leek is the main culprit. Crazy sharp, and one-handed closing such a thin knife with such poor grip (410 stainless handle), coupled with the resistence tension from its AO function... recipe for disaster.

I think it'd be a great idea to start a running picture thread (like the EDC thread) that documents our knife-inflicted wounds. I'll start it with a pic of the next gash I get, and we'll see where it goes from there...

I never cut myself on my knives anymore. After one slip years ago, that resulted in a hospital trip I've learned to never pull a blade towards any part of my body when using it.:o

picked up a new ginsu damacus,2 days ago. was checking out edge on arm hair knife was so sharp,i did'nt feel anything.later i saw bleeding from 3 places.

Anytime I want attention or life gets a little difficult- only kidding (no offense intended to anyone).

Seems to happen quite often to me. I'm always messing around sharpening them or playing with the locking mechanisms. I rarely ever cut myself with a slipjoint, but lockbacks and liner locks...whole 'nother story.

I cut myself the day I got my new Manix 2 tring to close it left handed. BTW the knife is perfect and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a hard use working/outdoor folder!!
