How often do you cut your self?

I've punctured the end of my thumb down to the bone. Blood everywhere.
I've sliced the side of my right index finger off (about half an inch long piece) lost the piece so I have a small "Jupiter spot" on there now.
I've sliced the top of a finger off from the back of the fingernail up about 3/8". That was bloody.

btw, none of these were with a knife.

I used to cut myself with every new knife at least once, just to get familiar ;-)

No kidding, once the cut occured, the knife is mine, at least thats what I think.
Never cut myself deeply, just some nicks, nothing major.

The blade reminds me, its a tool, a weapon if needed and a friend all the time...

Since I started collecting knives... Exactly twice. Both were small nicks and at the same exact spot. Both were linerlocks and the cut happened when I was closing my knife. Conclusion it could be that I need to change the way I close my linerlock knives, or I need to stop using them altogether because I'm a lefty.

Only two trips to the ER in my life, once because of a Gerber MK-II that slipped out of my hand and fell point-down into my foot (ouch!). Another nasty cut (18 stitches) from an axe. And one time involving a chain saw that I probably should have gotten stitches but didn't.

Lots on minor cuts. I'd say maybe twice a year I'll cut myself worse than a paper cut, but even those aren't usually that bad.

I had an interesting cut from the Temp 2 passaround.

That's what I get for cutting watermelon with a knife sharp enough to shave with, all while talking on the phone. :o

I cut myself BADLY on the first joint of my thumb. I was wrapping my Izula and was stupidly holding the knife with the sheath while wrapping it with the other; the knife slipped out and...

It happens once and awhile. Not enough that when I pull out a knife the people around me look for blood. But often enough that I keep a few band aids in my wallet. Generally its either when I need to cut something and am either drunk or very tired. It hasn’t happened in quite some time so maybe I’ve learned to drink in moderation and get enough sleep.

I cut myself like once every couple of months, usually just from not paying attention in a room full of blades. I've only had 1 cut that left me with stitches, it's more of a stab and left me with 3 stitches and 2 internal stiches.......:o I'm never doing bottle cut tests again.

I touch-up (sharpen) my knives fairly regularly. I also like to play with them a lot (yeah, I know I'm a big kid at heart).

When you are around sharp knives a lot your more likely to get cut. Most are superficial cuts that don't draw blood. Its O.K. I'm willing to deal with it.

I like to manipulate a balisong so every time I'm learning a new trick I usually get cut.

Wow, I cut myself at this exact spot many years ago, by a razor.;) Scar is still there. But didn't stitch.

I get scratched every once in a while, never really bad. I almost never feel them and can't tell I've been cut until I see the blood. I think the worst cut I've ever received was from a piece of broken glass that cut to the bone on my left thumb, I should've gotten stitches but it healed up eventually and left a nice scar.

I've been getting less cuts the more I use knives, but it also adds in carelessness due to using them regularly.

About four months ago I managed to bury the tip of a Strider karambit about a half inch into my right forearm, just north of the wrist. That wound was bleeding for over an hour until I got it under control. My right hand, wrist and part of the forearm were swollen for days. That's what I got for trying to spin a karambit around by the grip ring.

Too many times for sure! Always seems to be my thumbs or index fingers or feet. Yeah feet. I seem to now and then while watching a motorcycle race or something be cleaning or sharpening a knife and knock it off the bench or desk while cheering and a knife has landed on my foot on more than one occasion.:o Never anything serious but annoying! Now I listen to music when I service my knives and wear shoes.:D

:)

I only cut myself once or twice annually, and I work in a knife store! And then it's usually on all the things you should never cut or jab yourself on, like staples or paper. :p

Not when sharpening, but always within 2 or 3 days of receiving a new blade. Like a kid poking at a flame until burned...have to keep dickin' around with it until I see exactly how sharp it is. Just little nicks...except for the one "incident" with my Eddie White boot knife. That one left a mark. Still ain't nothin' compared to the damage I do to myself after a long hard day of yard work. High tolerance for pain I guess.

so far it has been a fairly rare occurance:
1 time with my old swiss army knockoff (with the corkscrew, the blade was fine)
2 times with my mora (1st time tried to see if the guard worked, it did up to a point....)
2 times with my leatherman, both times while closing the serrated blade

and likely about 8-9 times I've forgotten about, mostly with cooking knives, razor knives ect.
worst cut I've had was from a saw. that made a bit of a mess (comparitively speaking, still fairly minor in the scheme of things)
