How often do you cut your self?

I usually get cuts when I'm being stupid and using a knife for something other than it's intended purpose.

Last week, camping, trying to undo a knot in some paracord used for a clothes line. SAK Trekker in hand, holding knot in left hand, try to insert tip of SAK in knot to pry loose, slip and nearly lose the end of my left thumb...dammit, I always preech to my son not to do stuff like that.

this question reminds me of something that happened many years ago , worked with a guy who was in charge of repairing our machinery at work. He had long hair and would always place his head to the side of the open machinery to "listen" for odd noises... ( you know where this going right ? )

well , it was about 3 days after I was working there and I questioned why he did not wear a hat or something to hold his hair away from the machinery.... " don't need to , I am careful "

well , it weren't more than an hour later , while " Steve" was listening for what he suspected was a bad bearing... the outer geared belt assembly grabbed some hair and slammed his head into the side of the machine.... he looked up with that stupid look on his face and said ( dam I will never forget this ..rofl ! ) " If I had a nickel for every time that happened , I would be a rich man "

to which I said " Steve , If I had a nickel for every time that happened to me, I would have at the very most , 1 nickel "

:)

Yes , accidents happen , but they can be minimized by paying attention and using proper methods :)

I've cut myself bad enough to require stitches to many time's to remember as a meatcutter. Less than most all others I've worked with though.
Never lost a digit at least, but seen it happen once about 25 years ago.
I did bring my left index finger across the saw blade(coming into it would have taken it off) and it made my finger look like hamburger meat between the nail and first finger joint. Left about 15 thin scar's in that space.

Away from meatcutting I've prob had stiches about 5 or 6 times from a knife cut.
Most from playing with folders see'ing how many times I could open and close in 30 seconds, often doing it behind my back. I know.... VERY dumb thing to do:o(but I still do it) Its the lockbacks that seem to always get me.
