How often do you get a new knife?

I usually get 2 a month but that number has been known to climb if anything "special" comes my way!

1 to 2 knives a month depending on cash in hand... I've however bought more when the annual bonus comes in. For the most part I try to think over a purchase carefully but have had a few impulse buys.

I'm at about 4-5 per day. I sell quite a few, but I'm a collector first and foremost.

Just like those evil drugs, I soon found myself dealing to support my sick addiction!:D

Turns out the Bucklite I bought in high school was a "gateway" knife!

Dude, get a job. Two if you can. I'm in high school, I buy 3-4 knives a month, and they're not that cheap. I try to limit it though.

i have a job, but there are some things that are taking priority. like my second car and insurance. i dont need any more knives as i have one for edc, camping, a multi-tool, weekend carry fixed blade, keychain... i really shouldnt be spending any more on knives than i already am, so i am happy enough with the purchases i am making. plus there are no stores around me that carry decent knives. so i have to get everything off the internet.

For me, they run in bunches. Last purchase was four over one weekend, but you'd have to go back a few months to see another. I'd say every 3 or 4 months, I'll pick up something in the $50 range, but my birthday and Christmas are both in December, so I go a little better then. And income tax time has been very good to me the last couple years.

One of my problems is that I'm absolutely hung up on Queen D2 folders. I thought the Congress was going to be my grail knife, but then I got the larger stockman. I can't seem to kick it out of my pocket very often. I'll have to start a thread on that.

After finding this forum my knife buying has gone down. Because ive been looking a lot harder for that perfect knife. I used to just go to a store or website and buy a knife. But now im doing research on them, watching videos, reading your reviews. And ive been trading a lot too. Ive cut down my collection, i used to have 30, im down to about 10 now. :) so now all i have are name brand knives im finally getting a griptilian and now the next knife on my list is the 710 so i wont be buying any knives until i get that one. which i hope will be over the summer with my security job!

I tend to buy in bulk as some of the other posters have mentioned. The only things I will buy in single item sizes are sprint runs that will sell out fast. The last thing I bought was a blue spyderco manix 2.

I tend to save up blade money and will not ever go into any form of debt to buy a blade or other piece of carry gear. I like to keep a little money "chambered" at all times in case something really awesome comes along that will sell out quick. That way I can pounce.

I'll now return to resisting the urge to buy a colorful FFG delica and endura.

Edit: It probably ends up being about 1/month but I have a cap of 25 folders and 10 fixed blades at a time. If I go over the cap I will trade/sell down before buying more.

I just got into the knife thing this year, but have bought 10 and talked family into getting another 4 for my birthday! but I have a real hankering for a sage 1 asap. I'm afraid to tell the wife though.
sparrowfart.

"sparrowfart" Ha!:D Love the screen name.

Anyway, I find I spent about $600 on knives last year, but it ended up being only 4 knives. If I only spend what I have saved up in my "mad money" jar, it's about that much. I usually spread it out pretty well, with mostly between $100-200 per knife, but every once in a while I'll see something like a William Henry, or Chris Reeve, and that will eat up the whole amount. Otherwise, I just buy a few nice ones that strike my fancy.

Average 1 every 3 months.

Daniel

When I just started, it was about one a week. Nowadays it can take a few months before I buy a new knife.

I haven't bought a knife in about three months; but I'm getting ready to order several (6) after this weekend. For me they seem to come in groups.

Reading all the posts (and seeing pics) on this forum doesn't help much either.

Pure fact is, I've got more knives that I'll ever need. But I'm a sucker for a bargain. So at this point, I buy knives that either really appeal to me or I can pick up for a song. That translates to about 5 to 6 knives a year.

.

I keep telling myself this IS the last one for awhile, and then I see something I want and buy it. I've spent over a grand in the last few months on knives. I have three on the way right now. I definitely have a problem. My gold class griptilian on the way will be my last one for awhile if I can exert the will power. I really want a carbon fiber Stretch 2 with zdp-189 though. I don't need more knives, I don't need more knives......
