How old is your oldest knife i.e., how long have you had it?

A custom straight Indonesian keris (ain't they all), which I've had for 23 years. My father gave me one of my family keris when I was 5, but that doesn't count.

Hi all, my oldest knife is 42 years old and belonged to my father. He bought the typical German hunters knife, 3.75" forged blade with antler handle in 1957 when I was born. I've seen him skin many deer and boar with it and still remember that I used to "catch" (or was it the other way around) fleas that dropped from the dead boars that were hoisted up on my swing. After he died some 6 years ago I got the knife and got from a German knife factory a new glove like sheath for free after I wrote them about the knife and today it's still one of my prized posessions. Cheers, Bagheera

My oldest is a Buck 112 folder that I used to carry back in high school in 1977-79. Oops, that's a no no nowadays.

Oldest knife in continuous possession is a Premier lockback 4" with brass fittings a wood grips. Purchased new in 1972.

an Eye Brand, (Solingen) 3 blade stockman with Stag handles. ( Well.... it's only a 2 blade now). I've had it for 22 years. My father gave it to me, and I have no idea how long he carried it.

1902 german made pen knife. My grandfather got it from his father when he was about five, and my father gave it to me. Still in Very Good condition.

I have a Japanese Arisaka bayonet and a German Mauser bayonet which (according to a book) are somewhere around 100 years old. The Japanese one is really rusty and the German lacks its original metal sheath.

Two important questions in life:
Do they have a catalog?
Did you know there's a town called "Batman" in Turkey?

I'm going to cheat and say it depends. I have a Kabar large folder that my late Grandmother put the last edge on (Yes it is quite sharp) and which has lost about 1/3 of the blade to being sharpened over a great many years. I am not a Kabar guru but I would have to estimate this one is 50+ years old.
If however you count only a knife which I paid for, it would have to be the old deluxe Gerber Folding Hunter with the checkered French Walnut handle which I bought from Pasteur's Sporting Goods in Ocala, Florida in 1971, which makes it 28 years old.

Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice, moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

Wow! You guys have some very interesting knives in your collections. I thought my 40 plus year old scout knife was pretty old, but you guys really have some old blades. I really enjoyed reading your responses.
