How safe to buy from here

Majority of us value our reputation enough not to tarnish for few extra bucks... Majority..
Few just buy just to flip.. What reputation?
I've had a few little rifts, but sellers were quick to provide resolution when contacted.
I recently purchased a knife and large area of the primary bevel was missing and looked like it was attempted to fix... Never disclosed and pic of blade was not posted, and mistakenly I assumed it was good as seller stated it was only carried a few times. I have not left any bad feed-backs but this one is getting close, but have not contacted the seller to be fair. I am honestly getting tired of "Understanding", to say the least.
The problem is that desirable stuff sells too fast and will be sold by the time you do your research, if you are not familiar with the community.

Remember to ask questions and request pics. It's amazing how certain flaws and details only arise when you inquire. Sometimes the seller gets mad, sometimes they avoid answering questions and say something like "you won't be disappointed" And then use the excuse "you should have asked, I don't do refunds." Doesn't happen all the time but enough to be cautious.

THIS.

I only requested four purchases from established BF members. All four times I was treated politely, promptly, and honestly. I feel appreciative and definitely look forward to more transactions in the future.

This is how it should be, we were all new here at one time and someone had to give us a chance. I got snubbed a couple of times for being new, and just ignore those people now.

The advice to use Paypal Goods is very solid advice. I'll elaborate on that: do not use Paypal Friends and Family. Even if the seller insists. That option is for giving people money, not buying things.

I'm with a lot of guys on the read the fed back and just generally check the person out. I used to use friends and family now that's a no go goods and services only it protects you and that's your main concern if the seller insists then I just add the 3 percent that they are getting charged or I move on. This is a great community and there are a lot of great people here sure there are a few bad eggs but that's life you know how to deal with them there it's the same here.

Do your homework, and use Paypal "Goods" and you will have no issues. Where you put yourself at risk is when you trade. If a member is new or has little to no feedback, they will ship first or no deal.

I'm relatively new, and have only made 1 purchase so far. It went great, and the seller was helpful to me, and luckily was willing to give someone with 0 feedback history a chance. I appreciated it.

If the seller insists, that should be a red flag.

I've never had a problem here but have read where others have...do your homework on the item and communicate with the seller or buyer; things should go smoothly. A lot of very good people here

Most of the victims on the forums didn't do research and/or ignored the warning signs. Never pay in full for a knife not ready to ship from a knifemaker, do not use PayPal gift/ friends and family. Goods and services only. I would research this forum on the deals gone wrong what to do, what not to do. Learn from people's past mistakes

This is very true. You need to do your research BEFORE you start looking on the exchange. Know what you want. Know what to look for. Once you have done that, start looking on the exchange and be ready to jump when the knife you want comes up.

I have never had a deal go bad on the exchange. That said, logic would tell you that the longer a member has been here and the better the feedback score, the less likely you are to have a bad deal. That is not to say you will have a bad deal with a new member with no feedback-we all had to start somewhere. Be sure to always use Pay Pal goods and services , which should protect you if the deal goes bad. Just by using it will make it easier to resolve any disputes.

1. Check seller feedback.
2. Ask questions if anything is unclear.
3. Avoid sellers who insist on payment with Paypal gift.
4. Avoid sellers who insist you pay insurance. Insurance covers them not you.
5. Avoid sellers who claim that once the package leaves their possession, they are no longer responsible for it.

I used to log on alot years ago a did alot of buying.
Never a problem.
Years later Im here again....and buying LOL. Never a problem.
I would surmise the group here is pretty solid, but of course there is always a doooooosh or two

If you use paypal goods it doesn't matter what the seller says. If it doesn't arrive, you get your $$$ back.

I have had many successful sales, purchases, and trades on this forum and many others. I haven't ever been burned, and haven't ever had anyone complain or contact me with problems when I have sold or traded. Just follow the guidelines that people have already outlined in this thread and you should be fine.

I wouldn't say that any one "forum" in particular would be to blame for a poor trade/sale. They are just the tools to put you in touch with your prospective buyer/seller/trader. As long as communication is good with the other person, and they have some sort of reputation on the line, I don't worry about getting burned. Trades are the only time that you are truly vulnerable as there is no protection from Paypal, but most people don't want their reputations soured regardless.

It seems unanimous that PayPal Goods is the way to go. Wouldn't have known that, thanks all for your advice.

It's as safe as you let it be through doing your homework on the buyer/seller you're working with, and the payment/shipment options.
