How Sharps Your Knife?

Sorry this isnt a contest or anything but just wondering: How sharp are your knives? I'm just trying to gauge here if I'm actually terrible at sharpening or actually pretty good...or somewhere in between. So if some of you guys could post a video or some pictures of you either sharpening your Beckers or testing out the edge on paper, wood etc I'd really appriciate that.

Thanks guys.

Mine aren't very sharp atm because all I have to sharpen them is a $5 hand held ceramic rod sharpener set at about 30*, I'll fix this issue when I get more funds, but for now mine just have a workable edge, not paper safe.

All my knives shave hair, cut paper,ect.. All I have is a spyderco uf ceramic stone and a DMT diamond stone. The key is a good strop and some coumpound.

My everyday kitchen knives are working sharp. My EDC Delica is pretty darn sharp. My BK2 right now is really sharp. My Moras are all laser beam sharp. My BK14 needs work, kinda sharp. My tomahawk is kinda sharp. My BK5 is almost scary sharp.

I judge my edges with my fingertips and nails. I also think if you hand someone a knife and feel like you should warn them about how sharp it is, it's pretty sharp.

You can shave with all mine, Thats just my thing if i cant shave hair with a knife i wont use it.

I've whittled hairs with 3 of my blades. 2 are A2, 1 is 1084. And in case you're wondering, my hairs are 0.002" thick. Edge geometry matters, but really important is knowing how to use whatchoo got. I wouldn't use those hair-whittling edges for chopping, and indeed these blades are small. I set my edges on coarse & fine diamosnd hone surfaces (this train car smells like burning robot farts). I set my edges on coarse then fine diamond hone surfaces, then strop with a $1 fingernail buffer.
If you can see any light glinting off the edge i's dull!

Sharp to me used to be if it shaved the hair off my arm it was good to go, now thanks to this forum if I can't push cut reciept or phone book paper i will not carry or use the knife. That's just me, nothing worse than a dull knife

My knives are dull as a froe.:( But... the knives that I have sharpened for people are sharp enouph to shave newborn puppies and phone book paper.

My Seven I can shave with, my 16 will push cut paper, thought I did use it to baton through some pork ribs today, so it probably needs a touchup. My Machax is factory sharp and my 14 is duller than an Appalachian science fair.

Sharp enough but it could be better. It would shave off your dead skin easier than hair :D I need some proper tools to work on my sharpening. I just sort of touched up the edge on my 2 and 11 with a diamond rod by marttiini.

Push cut paper as in a strait line or can you do "C" and "S" cuts with it?

Like strait line cuts through paper or S shapes and stuff?

Most of mine will cut paper & shave arm/leg hair. A knife should be able to be brought back to that state after batoning, with just one swipe on each side of the blade, on a butchers steel or ceramic stick. Beckers will.

I've found any strop works, a $40 stropman.com strop is awesome but one I made for free out of a piece of wood and some old leather is actually better! Have you tried stropping with polishing paste? Like flitz or I think the one I use is vitasol or something?
