How to convince my parents to let me get a KA-BAR!

I cant help you. Dont beg , but try to impress your mom that youre responsible enough.

Once your heart is set on a USMC Kabar, nothing else will do. I use to take mine fishing. It was not a good knife for that. Did not matter. It was a USMC Kabar, a used one from WWII. One thats seen more than I ever will. Thats all that mattered.

hi there i really want the standard KA BAR USMC knife which is a 7 in fixed blade knife. my parents have allowed me to get folders up to 3.5 inches. can anyone help me with my argument why i should be able to get it. my reasons so far
- Camping and hiking fixed blades are more durable
- I have never pulled my knife out on someone before
- my grandpa got won in world war II why cant i get one (this one was a joke)

Jesus kid. Ka-bar's (from what I've heard + read) aren't much good for outdoor chores anyways. Get a good RAT (RC-6 + Survival kit). Tell them it's for a wilderness survival thing you're doing with a couple kids. A lot more useful, and a lot less "lethal" looking.

I can sympathize with the parent thing though. Tell them you'll compromise at a 4" folder and grab yourself a Spyderco Military.

This boy has been banned. His mommy was right. Johnnycakes should not have any kind of knife. I will never butt in again. Mama know best .

Well, that settles it. After reading this guys other posts, there is no way he should be allow to own anything sharp and/or pointy.

When I was ~10 my Dad said he didn’t think I was old enough to get a knife. I found a job selling spudnuts door to door in the early mornings. When I had earned enough ($25) I got a 5.5" blade with a stag handle (has "original Bowie knife" stamped on one side of blade) He said if I was old enough to work and buy my own then I could keep it. Maybe this would work for you.-PS does any one out there know any thing about the knife I still have. I am sure it's not the "original.....".I got it~ 1953
