How to mirror polish a blade tutorial

well I couldn't even find the right sanding wheels for a dremel so I'm forced to do it by hand. it's pretty slow going but it's coming along. starting with 320 to get the grinding marks out then 600, 800, 1500, and 2000. haven't finised with the 320 step yet but I'm pretty close on one side. my hands are covered in metal dust. I worked on the pocket clip some and if I can I want to get something like a 1200 grit to help move things along better and some 3000 to really finish it off before buffing with the dremel.

Any idea about how many passes, or how long it took you for each side? I am going to do this but just no clue yet about the kind of time it will take. Excited about getting started though.

There is not enough surface area on Dremel accessories to give an even finish.
You can hand sant to 2500 grit or higher, and then hand polish with Simichrome or similar polish

Bill, if you do this, do you pretty much have to disassemble the knife and sand/polish the entire blade (which means also removing original logo, etc.)? I have a Benchmade I'd like to do this to, but I assume it will both (a) void the warranty, and (b) remove the Benchmade logos.

it took a while to get all the grinding lines out but after I was done with the 320 grit the rest went much quicker. you may want to start with an even lower grit to make it go faster.

This helped me! I am glad to have this info. Now my hand sanding has helped a lot to get my blade projects looking a Lot better
