How to remedy vertical bladeplay in a BM710??

Let us know how it turns out.

I'd call benchmade just to see what they say. Although It's safe to say your 710 is no longer under warranty. They may offer to replace the blade (at a price) with a BM unit. Of course that would defeat your reason for purchasing The Chax M2 model.

Your best avenue is likely Chax himself (chase.chaxknives@frontiernet.net). I contacted him a few months back regarding replacing a 710 with M2, he mentioned that he had an original BM M2 blade as well as a chax blade (in his own knife i think) in stock and would put whichever fit better in the knife for about $50. The price he quoted for a new custom blade was $130 though. Since its his work, he "should" stand behind it. Luckily i was able to pick up my M2 on b/s/t.

When flicked out hard my 710 has zero noticeable play in any direction except for side to side and that is intentionally kept loose to keep the blade moving freely. There is also plenty of room (~2mm) left in the slots for the axis bar to move forward if the ramp/tang wears.
